Yea, I did some more testing and the BMG can in fact score crits, but it doesn't have any feedback when you hit them like the other weapons do, so that's another huge area of improvement.

In my opinion, I would love Trion could go into detail to remake the BMGs, as well as the healing aspect of the game. For every MMO, there are "healers" to keep people alive, but currently in Defiance, healing is kind like a side bonus. You could have it, but it does not really affect the game play that much. Everybody right now is just stack damage, damage, and damage, I wonder if anybody even care about their survivability. If you meet a boss, you just out damage and power through it, which makes the fight really dull, and make the boss sometimes feel too straightforward and easy. If Trion could change the healing and BMGs as they could really play a major part of the game, then more people would love to use BMGs as a "Medic" of the group; moreover, Trion could make the boss fights more harsh and dynamic for the players, because now they have the proper tools to keep people alive.

Well, they obviously don't want a game where having a spread of support characters is mandatory, which I understand. You shouldn't have to have a guy with a BMG in your team to be effective, but the BMG should still be a meaningful addition to a team, and not just make everyone groan because they miss out on so much firepower.
Essentially to make that happen the damage output you lose in a group by adding a BMG has to be made up for by the damage output you gain from not having to take cover as long or as often. Currently that really isn't the case, because the quick healing you get from a respark shield blows any BMG out of the water.
Making the BMG into a weapon that needs to alternate between damage and healing to be at its best would in my oppinion be the best way to make it more useful. Since currently both damage and healing eat the same charge there is no incentive at all to use the thing for damage.
At its best it should do good healing and good damage but it would have to go back and forth between the two. Maybe it could have positive and negative charge even, and seesaw between the two, so you damage enemies to build positive charge, then you spend it by healing which in turn builds up negative charge, which you expend by dealing damage. You can run a weapon all the way from 100% of one charge to 100% of the other, but the effectiveness of the shot is determined by how big the sympathetic charge was when you started. So if you're at 100% negative and you fire it at someone it does tons of damage, and you can run it until it hits 100% positive. If you stop at 30% positive and then you start healing however the heal will be much weaker. That way finding a good balance between the two makes you most effective. Reloading the weapon would balance the charge and reset the weapon to a neutral mode.

Its more effective in planetside 2 to heal someone under fire than in Defiance with a fail BMG, TRION you need to massively change these and buff them make them like a teamfortress 2 healing gun if you must but allow the heals to actually heal, ive had people with passive regen heal more and whats the point when shields recharge after 3 seconds and are more useful, why dont BMG's repair shields? seems more realistic than health.
