Makes sense to me! I'm older than you but still enjoy doing virtually what I can't physically.

I like the world, I like the game play, but what's holding me back is the p!ss-poor chat and inability to chat to my friends without inviting them to group, which usually isn't feasible. The lack of a game manual or in-game help (Windows' F1 key help) is further crushing what should be an enjoyable game.

I also got stuck on this boss and just found the fight to be frustrating. Also when I would die (very fast) I wouldn't even get the revive self one time option you get because I was just dying to it too fast. I figured I will need some help/hints and came here... looked on YouTube. I still don't think there is a definite strategy but I suppose next time I go in, I am going to try a few things different things.

I died 2-3 times in that first phase and that's when I stopped. I realize I was trying it wrong fast... and actually tried to get a friend to join but then something went wonky with my ISP so I had to stop playing. So a grouped friend on the same mission will not be in the final fight with you?

I get bored easily if there aren't any real challenge that makes me reevaluate my tactics. That's why I was doubly happy first time soloing in San Francisco. The experience of going up against a group of Dark Matters on my own renewed my interest in this game.

I do recognize the difficulty of these solo story missions. Again, I like the challenge and the feeling that I can hack it while my usual partners have to die many times to get through. Tough games have been around since the beginning, and have only been toned down. Does anyone remember those "original" shooter games like Gradius/LifeForce and Ikari Warriors, where ONE hit you're out but you're expected to dodge a hail of bullets and explosions? Videogames have only gotten easier when compared to those. And I don't think they've lost any business.

The only thing I would concede to is making an option to bring a friend for story mode mission, but with a warning that there will be no loot or XP. I and many others enjoy overcoming the challenge by changing up what we do or just "train" and get better at using the tools at our disposal: mods, perks, rolls and maneuvers, aiming, different weapon types, learning the boss pattern, aware of the environment, use of cover, and so on.

I don't know about the current generation, but having to say "they should make it easier" is a phrase I would never utter, especially in a game.

I just want to throw this out their, adding co op is a nerf and a way bigger nerf then adding a difficulty setting. A boss that's meant for one player now having to fight 4 would be increadibly easy. I say just keep trying you will feel really happy when you actually beat him.

My strategy from a Missions and Contracts thread:

I beat phase 1 in a similar fashion. The BMG seems like a must for this fight. I would recommend a quick reload SMG or Assault Rifle rather than the detonator. In phase 1 a lot of time is spent running away from him (not rolling), when you get hit heal with the BMG then swapping to my secondary and shooting him while he is at rest. I used Overpower as often as I could but always began it after he finished his swirly blue rushes.

In phase 2.1, I was a bit more stationary. I stayed on one end of the room (the end away from where Nim was spawning his clones) using the new platforms as line of sight breakers to get him to come to me. When he got to me I tried to get as many head shots in as I could (1 or 2 should force each copy to dissipate). For phase 2.2 I moved forward to the large pillar in the center and only killed the clones up above in line of sight of me, the swords from the rest all hit the pillar. I only had to use my BMG when I got hit by a sword in phase 2.2. I popped Overload only in Phase 2.1 (2.2 is too short for it).

Phase 3 was incredibly simple. Head to one of the small pillars away from the center (there are 4). I used one next to an ammo cache. I used kept the pillar between myself and Nim as much as possible. I would only peak out to shoot him after he slammed into the ground or after his laser missiles had impacted the pillar. When he moved up to the middle and caused the ground to explode, I hugged the pillar and rolled to avoid any <archerVoice> danger zones </archerVoice> that appeared under me. When I missed a roll or got hit I used the BMG to heal up and swapped back to my SMG to murder this fool. I preferred using Overpower after he made the floor explode.

Looking back the most difficult part of the fight was phase 1 because there was nothing to hide behind. Once he raises the floor, healing becomes all but unnecessary. Remember the ammo caches exist one on each half of the room throughout the fight; use them.
Sometimes dodging is too slow, but running around like a chicken with your head cut off usually works... for everything else there's BMG. Hope this helps.

I did this fight tonight, it is by the far the toughest one I have had in this game. I would rather fight two Jake Legs than nim all over again.

My tactic was a semi auto LMG and a beserker shotgun. both green weapons. I had a Hurricane shield low recharge time and about average recharge on it. But it was a regeneration shield which gives me 25% health regen coupled with the 25% health regen perc and the extra 225 HP this was needed for me in this fight. Cluster grenades may be of help here as well as they cover a wider area than your usual types.

When the things come up out of the floor destroy as many as you can because Nim will make them explode around you causing damage. If you stand to close to them though as you destroy them you will get damaged as well.

When he goes up top try to shoot as many of Nim as you can this will cut down his damage and give you more cover. If you get lucky you may find the real Nim and lay in some damage while he is stood still for a few seconds.

Some people have said a BMG and Infector helps alot in this fith due to the way they lock on and apply damage over time rather than the burst damage of the projectile type weapons. Also a BMG can heal your shields as well which will help keep you in the fight longer and quicker.

I was EGO rating 900+ when I did Nim, I have done all the side mission and lots of Arkfalls as I never rush content.
