Press dodge when he shoots the projectiles or charges at you, shoot him when he doesn't.

    Phase 1 is ridiculously easy...

I could understand if you had some problems in phase 2 but jesus christ.

Op I suggest you play some bayonetta or dark souls or ninja gaiden or even the original half life, if this game frustrates you then those (amazingly fun and rewarding) games should have you break your controller.

NIM kicked my *** big time so I did the newb thing.......... I used my BMG and spend an hour beating him. If NIM gets within melee range of you, your *** is dead.

I ran away from him the whole time and just kept tagging him with the BMG.

Trion should be putting more emphasis on the grouped co-op aspect of the game and should take the OPs suggestion and make all story missions at least two player co-op and soloable. Great suggestion by the OP.
Of course it is a great suggestion. Problem is, it is not going to happen.I am certain of that because they would need to implement a complete new game mechanic for a handful of players that can't beat one fight. They'll rather water it down than do that.

Maybe if there ever is an expansion.

Nim is easy to beat, it is all about finding the trick to each of the fights. Now if it is bugged just wait for it to be fixed, that is no reason to quit the game.

We need games with this and higher difficulty fights!

Eh, if Defiance fights got harder we might actually need increasing player strength. That'd be a ton of work for Trion.

This doesnt make sense if we increased player strength then the fights would not be harder. Theirs not reason to increase player strength just at difficulty levels.

Well that's what happened to me when I fought him the first time. I died in the second phase and went back to the start of that phase. It happened several times so I left the instance, came back the next day with a different loadout, and killed him.

I like the idea of the game asking if you'd like to go into co-op mode when you die repeatedly. Another thing they could do is ask if you want to have an easier battle and the game would auto nerf the boss if you said yes. They could have the pursuit awards be given only for completing the level on regular difficulty. Those that went to easy mode could move on in the story, but the mission would stay on their map so they could go back and try again later if they chose.

Just did this fight! It was a royal pain in the ***. But, I prevailed.

This fight isn't as easy as people keep insisting it is.

    It's definitely not impossible.

Like many other players, I'm coming to this game from an MMORPG pov, where I've been used to using a mouse for movement and not the WASD keys. I have been trying hard to adapt and am slowly getting there, but as a mature gamer, its hard to retrain my left hand to move swiftly around these keys, let alone alt and shift. Solo boss fights are extremely hard/impossible.

As this game has the opportunity to draw in many more players once the show airs and many of those may well have the same issues as myself. I'd like to see the option to select a more familiar keybinding and/or co-ops for currently solo content.

At the very least, I'd like to be able to double tap WASD for a dodge/roll in the relevent direction That, at least, would make the story bosses a little easier.

The suggestion to have those fights as co-op, is also a good idea. Those who like tough fights (near impossible for me) get the kudos of soloing them, those of us who just want to keep up with friends can duo them and not be gated from other content.

Nim fight sucks bro, straight up. I must have died 4 or 5 times per phase. Just gotta keep at it. I used a fully modded wolfhound pistol though which do amazing crit damn (4.0) seem to really help. The last phase I tried to keep him running round those pillars in the back near the ammo cache, whenever he did that spinning jump thing I'd pop out and unload on his face.
