Shooting the Little Guys normally Drops Ammo. Shooting them is useful when you are in the last room (I know that's EVE speak, but dont know what else to call it) and the Ammo Case has not spawned yet.
We run out of time constantly at night. When you only have a small group and 1/3 of them are doing nothing but spamming skitterlings with AoE, it's rare to see a blister. Even when one occurs 1/3 of the people are not shooting it at best. Maybe an immunity for certain bugs until they make a blister? I've seen the timer run out well before the amount of time required on more than one occasion. Sometimes it's new folks whom you can't explain anything to with the current chat system a lot of the time it's 500+ ego folks with massive AoE weapons. In the day time, enough DPS is brought to bear it is a non-issue in most cases. I've never failed one in the day.
The problem is with the people who just simply spam their rockets or detonators that spawn child explosives.. they don't think before they spam... they just spam and the constant rain of explosive shells keeps a fair number of the skitterlings from ever making it to the crystal in the first place.
I agree, it's annoying as can be, but until people gain a better understanding of the importance of completing the arkfalls, and focus less on mindless spamming, it's going to continue to be a problem.

I do agree though, it is unnecessarily infuriating. But I suppose if the other arkfalls turned up as often as this one (why is it always Revolting Hellbugs?) it would be easier for people to get that pursuit, as you can kill all you like in those ones.
That's completely unnecessary and counterproductive.
Even if it was your goal, A) You're going to finish the pursuit eventually anyway, and B) doing it at these types of arkfalls helps prevent you from moving on to other crystals quicker, slowing down the rate at which you advance in the pursuit.
People do also need to realize that it's not bad to kill the hellbug skitterlings at this event, it's only bad to kill them before they've bitten the crystal. Afterward, they'll retreat and form coccoons to morph into warriors... so you can kill them after they've bitten the crystal or after they've transformed and still get a kill, which will send out a new bug to do the same, and so on.
The only people who really are horrible at the ones who use explosive weapons that give the bugs no chance at biting the crystal, or the ones who won't get out of their car.
If you're working on the pursuit, do it in a way that doesn't harm other people. There are plenty of arkfalls out there, and only one type of them requires this system...all the others you can shoot anything that moves.
They're easiest when there's only one person around doing them. This is a really funny thing to be smug about.
