When you are in a plane the weapons you can use are much stronger than anything the enemy will use. It isn't the same like the solo missions in this game.

I totally forgot about the vanilla Priest quest to get Bene/Ana. The brand new (5.2) warlock quest for green fire.

We were able to complete the other missions in the chain (e.g. "The Departed") while grouped together, but upon starting "The Heist" we were informed our group would be disbanded because the mission was solo only.

Some of us completed "The Heist" quickly, others required more time. Those that finished quickly had to stand around and twiddle our thumbs while waiting on the slower members of the party to wrap things up so we could continue to the next mission together. That's not fun for the waiters, or for the people feeling pressured to hurry.

There should be no solo-only missions outside of the tutorial in an MMO. Please note, I'm not saying you can't have content that dynamically scales for either solo or group play in order to support a loner playstyle, but you should never be splitting groups apart to play mission content alone. It's bad enough you force this with many of the repeatable activity challenges that make up so much of this game's content.

There's just no reason for splitting groups up in missions. You have the technology to dynamically scale encounters, thus they can be tuned in difficulty for 1 player or 4. This is an MMO, and those of us playing missions with friends want to play those missions - with friends. I can't believe I even have to make a thread about this in a game that advertises itself as massively multiplayer. What were you thinking?
In total agreement. At the very least the game should indicate which missions are solo and which are teamable. The whole teaming side of the game is rather wonky and Ive no idea why ... the co-op appeal is why I and my friends bought the game, this is an aspect that should be highly polished and encouraged, but it aint.

The green fire quest is not a quest that is part of the main story. The solo missions like nim and jack are not the same as that quest.

Seeing some people trying to make excuses for the solo-only missions, but it's really this simple: When you have the technology to support both solo and group gameplay, solo-only missions = portion of the playerbase needlessly annoyed and frustrated. Missions that can be played either solo or in a group = everyone happy.

Kind of a no-brainer decision, really. So, I'm not really understanding why they chose to go with solo-only missions instead. Now, you can throw all the excuses you want at it, but it will always come back to this.

Finished the storyline missions in Tranquility last night. All the missions in that series my friends and I did together in a group - except for the finale. We were forced to break up our group and play alone when we reached the finale. And there was no reason behind it, the game just wouldn't allow us to play the mission together. It was stupid. It was a stupid ending to an otherwise fun series of missions.

Solo only missions in an MMO should be optional, not part of the main story line!

It's ridiculous to force players out of a group and into a solo situation.

People play MMO's for socialization, not to play alone.

GET IT TOGETHER DEVS AND FIX THIS IN THE PATCH!!!

(Admittedly I only read about 3 pages so forgive me if I repeat someone else.)

Solo missions in an MMO is /not/ a bad thing.... as for long as the quest chain starts and finishes that way. (Well finishing can be group oriented, like the Arkfalls are.) Personally, I like solo missions. I have a tendency to keep odd hours, so there are many times when something like that might be enjoyable when I have none of my clan around.

However, to throw a solo mission in the middle of a quest chain that one has been working on with a group isn't an issue, it is downright rude. It does force the "party" to divide, and wait, and hurry. Especially, if you consider it doesnt happen just once, but a few times, particularly for just a boss fight, when you specifically could use your group. (I think that may have been a poorly structured sentence. Sorry.)

Anyways, those that say an MMO should not have any solo missions have a right to that opinion, but I think they have there place, but should not be a focus, at all.

Apologies if this is a TLR post.

Just ran into a new quirk. My group was hunting down Fallon and went to go chat with his girlfriend (she tells you to go look for him at the docks) and as we reach her, we all get separately phased. Now, admittedly and fortunately, the quest was really easy so it wasn't a big deal, but we were all on the same quest and in the same location. There's no reason to phase us from each other.

The Secret World has solo missions. GW2 as well. It is more difficult for me to say which ones since I do most of MMO playing solo. I think a lot of people do since I run into more singles than multiples in this game and the other two I play now. And groups always complain about it. I don't mind but agree they should allow all the missions to scale. I think TSW is the only one that maybe has some reasons - they have action, sabatage/covert, and investigation missions and some don't make sense to have groups but they probably could have done it.

This game makes less sense though since there really aren't any other time sinks. No crafting, auction house, gathering, jumping puzzles, dying your clothes, no real clothes at all. This world can't be so crappy there is nothing to do but shoot stuff. Have we no leisure time? I haven't been to San Francisco yet but I hope there is some beauty in this world. I am completely awed by GW2 cities.

But I do agree. There shouldn't be any advancement/storyline missions that aren't groupable. They could do some side missions that are.

I really don't see what the problem is. If they did not do this you would have idiots with an ego rating of 100 completing the game because some one boosted them through it.
The game is quite challenging and I hope it stays that way. Before WoW, believe it or not there used to be online games where people had to think for themselves a bit.
