Exactly, it is an mmo should be no solo required quests.

This is a very different team with very different policies, unfortunately.
I didn't play Rift beta, and was actually reluctant to get the game until a friend pestered into trying it out. It was certainly fun at first (much like this game), but there were a lot of changes made to classes that simply didn't make sense. I often wondered who the devs were getting their class balance information from; it sure didn't feel like they were listening to the community.

I totally agree with this. My partner and I did a coop map and one of our friendly randoms wanted to just stay back and when we all died we respawned outside of the boss room and re-complete the mission all over again. Besides, solo missions will also give players the chance to just how good they are on their own see what truly works best for them in play style.

Forced solo missions suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck, especially if your on a laptop which doesn't have the best graphics chip & are using a controller.
On my pc I plowed through the mission to kill Jackleg joe but for my wife who is equally skilled it's near impossible to do on her laptop. I even had a try at doing it for her using her machine & I can't beat it. If it wasn't a solo mission it wouldn't even be a problem. Solo is just horrible. The end.

It's a multiplayer game, everything revovles around teaming and mass events; to then go from playing with my friends in a team to "Oh hey, you better leave your party for this" really breaks the fun.

You have scaling in world events so do it for stories, it's annoying.
Secret world did this for their story missions as well, yet everything else works with others; they just needn't differentiate and allow you to work together.

We're human, not some dumb animal so let us suspend our own disbelief when it comes to immersion and what seems real or not.

99% of the quests missions and instances are suitable for groups. What more do you want?
Only one or two story line missions are solo. If your playing in a group there is plenty to do.
Have you never been in one of those WoW levelling guilds where the chat is almost constantly full of people begging for boosts? Boosts in places where they have no right to be at their current level.
It's not possible to be boosted through the story in this game and people have to actually do something for themselves. I think that's great.
There is so much other stuff to do with your group you can save the story for when your on your own.

I think a simple option for the group leader to allow group members to phase into the mission is not a bad idea at all considering this was marketed as a mmo, people can solo it if they wish but i honestly do not see any reason op is wrong here.

There's so much wrong with your statement. It's a lot more than "one or two story line missions". On top of that all the challenge content is solo-only.

If YOU want to play the story alone, YOU can play the story alone. Nobody forces you to group. Stop trying to force others to play your way.

Hey you know what you don't have to do those to go onto the next story. In order to get across the bridge you must do the mission to blow up the big bot or you can use "go to friend" and cheat your way. You do miss story by not doing the dailies, but you don't have to do them to get to the next story or expac.
