Eight days after launch. I'm a player, customer and a former alpha tester for Defiance. I'm also a game developer and hold a degree in Game Art. (Creating 3D assets and characters for Film and Game use, mostly I use Zbrush) anyways, reason I mention myself is so I add a bit of credence to my claims on how to improve this endeavor or fix what ails it. It's all my opinion so with that said flaming me if you disagree is only YOUR opinion as well, and you know what they say about opinions right? Keep that in mind.
I just started to play with my USB Logitech Game Pad for PC on Defiance (I'm real new to game-pads, having used keyboards and joysticks mostly in the past) I have to say brilliance! Trion got a perfect match up to my game pad anyways. All the buttons work as they should and even show up on the game where they should and marked correctly. I love it. (Still can't use a game pad to save my life though) Nice job!
Chat still sucks. Voice is turned off in Defiance on my PC due to echos and weird stuff and Teamspeak is temporarily being used but I think I'll use Skype ultimately. Common Trion get voice chat fixed and working in Defiance it's out there in a million other games. Go look at them if you need to see how to do it right. Also make at least three lines of chat visible but the box transparent in Defiance that would at least make it possible to see some semblance of a chat program at work and make it worth having.
Loud-outs. You need to fix this once and for all. This is what's wrong. Need hot-key assignments for Load-outs, need loud-outs to remember individual configurations not revert to the original one every-time you log in, need loot to stop jumping in to loud-outs or need to make players more aware that a short "E" key hold when grabbing loot stores it and a longer "E" key hold puts it in the load-out currently active. Just too close, perhaps a different key assignment for loud-out replacement?
Add some way for players to change their appearance other than clothing back into the game. IE: If you put face paint on at character creation but decide later you think the character needs a change you would be able to do so. Hair color, Style of hair? Skin color? make-up? Casual clothes as well?
Fix the vehicle dynamics for the jeep, the sound is great now but the vehicle still behaves like its being led along on a string when driving. It needs dynamics, weight and realism in things like skidding into corners, donuts, bouncing on landing, rolls and flips and temporary damage effects if driven insanely, gear shifting sounds need syncing. Perhaps check all vehicles? Where motorcycles for us Harley lovers I'd like to see an old dresser or chopper in the game (they would likely be around after an event).
Role playing addons, Taverns with NPC customers actually talking, drinking, fighting, dancing, NPC tavern vendors, Ability to sit in a chair, emotes for eating and drinking, dancing, Guild/clan halls with guild abilities such as guild controls, messaging, storage?
Who makes the Tech? Mysterious gods supply finished products to the inhabitants of the planet? Crafting even a "light, low-cal version of "trades" or "crafting might be cool and a diversion from the repetitive? (ALWAYS KEEP PRICES UNDER GAME CONTROL, players DO NOT have the intelligence to create a realistic Eco on their own, everything eventually costs a MILLION of everything or more to buy which is stupid) IN an apocalypse or ancient times WHO in the heck has millions of anything?
I'll add more later I need to go play a bit now.

I tried, I really did I hammered those keys so hard I think I almost snapped the keyboard in half to avoid NIM but too no avail the jack-wagon got me. Ah well two out of three ain't bad I think to myself. I'll try again, after a short break. OK let's go. What? wait! OMG! I am at the beginning again!!!! I have to do those first two (two hour) battles with NIM all over again?????? You gotta be kidding me??? Tell me it ain't so???? Yes, the developers think if you die at any point you should begin at the room instance entrance again, at the beginning of round one again.
