So, I finally ran into the reloading bug this morning. I made a new character to try out the cloak power. On Sniper Ridge, as the dozen regular mobs were drilling away at me, the boss guy keeps lobbing amazingly accurate grenades at me through the walls, and I can't seem to get my AR to reload. Cost me 3 deaths while I kept pressing X and trying to dodge/roll, but somehow I think the reloading animation was getting hung up or something and kept me from rolling. By the time I figured out what was happening, even more mobs had spawned (i was completely alone in the entire area, no other players were anywhere close) and I was forced to simply run around in circles waiting for my gun to reload, not being able to dodge or anything else until eventually it reloaded and I fired off 50 rounds (killing ONE mob) just to have the same thing happen. It was incredibly frustrating and tedious and not at all fun. Isn't that the point of a video game?

To the point of this thread, can I please, pretty please, get an official word on whether the extreme number of mobs that are spawning on solo players is working as intended?

Well to give you a heads up any mob that throws grenades or lobs explosives can see through walls and obstacles.

Trust me you can be hiding behind a rock that is behind a fence and behold a grenade lands at your feet. Or a molotov grenade splashes on the rock your hiding behind from the guy who tossed it who happens to be on the other side of the fence out of view range.

Mobs also seeming auto target you after you fire 1 shot while their gun's bloom is sometimes never seen >.>
Trying to target one of them that's in the grass can be near impossible until they either get out or you get to them, only happens sometimes though, because most times, they're dead.

This problem becomes especially apparent once you reach San Francisco. It was my understanding that story and episode mission were, for the most part, solo oriented. With that in mind, why does the whole mission's worth of mobs spawn at the very end of "No Finer Place?"

**Below May Contain Slight and Generally Insignifficane Spoiler**

You know the part after you've gone and killed off the 2 fake LTs and finally get to the real one?
I expect the dude to have a good group of flunkies around to dispatch as I fight him but why the hell do all the enemies I've just killed on my way to get to him come back as soon as I take the first shot at the mission target?

What's worse is that his health and shield have an insane rate of recovery so what damage I can get off the guy is wasted as soon as I take any action to avoid being killed off by his or the freshly spawned mobs weapons.

Also... dammit... it's been over 12 hours since I purchased them so... can I have my bits please?

    All So True

This game uses a pretty lame enemy spawning system. It means that a logical, tactical approach [used in most shooter games] simply does not work. Enemies seldom miss, even at great range, and it takes several shots to bring even the weakest ones down. If you have 3 or 4 Dark Matter gunners shooting you from different angles, your shield is gone and you are dead before you can take them out or get to cover. It's that simple. Speaking of shields...geez, are they ever puny! Even the best ones suck.

Huge mobs with multiple mini-bosses only add to the frustration. I play a game for enjoyment, not for anger management and frustration. I don't want the enemies to be easy, but I do want a game where some tactical sense is rewarded, and where a weapons loadout can be appropriate for the enemies encountered. Having 3 raider Rioters spawn right next to you, killing you with 3 shotgun blasts, is not challenging, it's just lame and cheap. It addes to the frustration, and when that frustration gets to a certain level, you will stop playing.

Destiny will be out this fall, and, if Trion wants Defiance to be a continuing success, they need to address some of these concerns before then. I understand that the server issues take precedence, as they should, but I do hope that Trion can address the game balance issues [ PVP vs PVE, etc.] after the servers are relatively stable.

I like this game, and it is addictive fun, but it won't last long if some of these issues aren't addressed sooner rather than later.

Quoted for truth and eloquence! You've hit the nail on the head with my sentiments exactly. Thank you, wish I could've expressed it this easily to begin with!

isn't more mobs spawning a good thing? Outside of Elite Black Lungs and Elite Golddusters spawning more than 2 at a time.

I always find the common mobs easy to kill, in fact I wish more of them would spawn so I could more easily level up my guns.

I have more of a problem with enemy speed balancing and cheap/spamable attacks than I do with their numbers.

In general the enemies frequently have a ROF(while maintaining accuracy with little to no recoil) advantage over the player and they don't need to reload, which is made worse by even a minor lag. Most enemies also move faster than the player can and can rip through shields in a single hit.

My biggest problem is enemys with spammable grenade attacks. The archers and blast pods are annoying since they can basically hit you anywhere, are highly accurate, have a fairly high ROF, have AOE, have a knocback, inflict snare, and reduce your damage and ROF. In numbers of 3+ it's almost instant death while solo if they all target you, since you avoid one and two more are already hitting you. The game love to spawn me right back in their line of fire where I get shredded again before I can even move.

Tankers also have too little delay between shots for such a heavy weapon. By the time you dodge the first shot the second one is already flying towards you.

Hullkers are rather quick given their massive size, even though I picture them a being slow and lumbering given their size.

    Enemies That Clip

The enemies all act strangely at times. Some will disappear and reappear 10 feet away as you are shooting them. Some Raider Rioters will glide toward you at 100 mph and then blast you with their shotgun. The 99er and Dark Matter snipers are remarkabley deadly, while your sniper rounds do a lot less damage to them. So a sniper shoot-out is probably not a great idea with those guys. At least head shots do a lot of damage, so I really try for those.

Monarchs can sense you when you are cloaked...at least sometimes. That is pretty irritating because they have so many hit points. You have to do the dodge-roll-dodge dance with them to survive, and they are VERY fast for such large beasts.

On lighter notes: have many of you guys have rocketed over a hill and found yourself flying into the water below? The shore line in this game is very steep, so you are usually in for a longesh swim. I have also landed in trees and on rocks, and had to abandon my vehicle of choice and respawn it. This is usually when blindly driving at break-neck speed toward an ArKfall. Or ramming some huge mini-boss with full boost, and then having the vehicle explode [this happened with an orange Charger, which is like a tank]. Vehicle mayhem abounds in this game, which is part of the real fun playing it.
