Was anyone else not impressed by the new class and weapon setup

Class felt too limited, much to be desired. Like it was a rip off from borderlands class trees but far too over simplified. The new weapon system is ok I guess. Still, I don't see what was wrong with the old ego grid and upgrade system. I guess they had to do it to make it look like they're trying something new, and a reason to strip players back to square one? Idk.

That's what I thought too. Not much going on there and thinking that aspect of 2050 will not hold anyone's attention for very long at all.

Less complicated the better. WOW has been a very successful mmorpg and had limited gear you would actually use. As for understanding the current class and weapon system I don't even think were are seeing much of or any of it in the beta especially when speaking about a class system.

Im hoping as we unlock new classes, we will be able to utilize 2 of them at once. Job/sub job Final Fantasy style if you will. If you are restricted to simply 1 roll, seems too limited to me honestly.

Afaik a single character will have access to all classes, once they are unlocked. I think they`ll switch along with loadouts. You just can`t mix within a single loadout.

The class system seems a good route. The concern is the class tree seems overly simplified, not a lot going on there. From the Beta I liked the weapons upgrade system and the rough edges of that will hopefully be more improved. But we'll just have to wait & see what the finished product has to offer.

I disliked it. I didn't hate it, per say, but if anything, i just hate what it means. They've clearly taken away player choice and build making for favor of selling us how to play. Rather than fine tuning our loadouts to fit out play style, they're going to start flinging classes at us to buy until we find the right rinse and repeat classes that really didn't need to exist.

Admittedly, i'm excited at the drones and the new passives and potential there, but i really don't like how they gutted EGO for a monetization system. In all reality, i really don't see anything that would require them to strip us all back to zero other than the fact they want us to buy everything all over again.

While this game has always been the poor man's borderlands, this 2050 update just makes it the poorman's defiance, which really doesn't look like it's going to get far on the likely monetization track it's on. Any time i go through 2050 now or hear devs proudly hyping all the "changes", i just hear phil hartman quietly changing "monorail! monorail! monorail!" but with the word monetize.

I don´t like the feel of the weapons in general.

Classes, i think that they divided the old EGO grid and split it between classes.
Each class will get its distinct ego grid.

There is no monetization. You get all the classes for free, all future DLC for free.
