Made it a real challenge and killed him with bolt action sniper rifle. Illusions part was the most crazy game experience in last 5 years.

    1. Did you roll at all or were you a sprinter? (Mostly curious about Phase 1, but the other 2 phases as well)
    2. How did you handle the clones in phase 2? (Did you identify Nim and kill him or just kill whatever came at you until they were gone)
    3. Is there anything you would change about the way that you did the fight if you were to do it again? (Perks, weapons, EGO rating, strategy, etc.)

This was not directed at me, but I'll throw my 2c in. I did it at EGO 350 with four perks, two of which only reduce incoming damage while standing still or crouched, and one of which was the extra ammo perk. So call it 1 perk for (I believe) 9% reduced damage. Nope -- didn't really prepare for it properly, just kept trying.

Respark shield. Although resparks are great for most things, most times I'd only get damaged every 10+ sec, so I'm not convinced a higher absorption slower shield wouldn't be better.

Did it purely with the old Downpour SMG I got from some mission way back. Max DPS at the expense of ridiculously huge ammo use, but you can pick up 500 ammo with one click from the blue pile.

    1) Never rolled, just ran the entire time. Shot him in the face occasionally but concentrated on staying alive vice doing damage.
    2) Killed whatever got in my face and kept running/LOSing behind pillars. Killed the nearest mirrors to me when they were still up on the ledge. Usually got 2 before they came down. In phase 3 I shot the terraform blocks closest to me soon as they formed to prevent running into them.
    3) Probably. More regular dmg absorption perks and Overcharge. I had cloak slotted, which is useless in that fight far as I could tell.

I died probably 6-8 times and it took me probably an hour total, so I'm not claiming this to be "PROTIP" advice. Just doable. I never extracted, just waited out the timer and it would start at the beginning of the phase I died in, not all the way back. You don't need a lot of perks to do it. Your job is to stay alive and pop in some damage when you get a chance. You'll see the timing.

This is a classic attrition fight, and you will attrit much faster than Nim.

I am far from great at this type of game, but I managed to do this boss without too much trouble. Wish I had messed around with a BMG before-hand, because I don't really know how they work yet.

Anyway, I used an infector in the first 2 phases. In the first phase, I just slammed him with as many bugs as I could via the infector while he was in his annoying jump/pause/jump/pause phase. As soon as he turned blue I just kept an eye on him and stayed ahead of his attacks while sprinting. I found running around him was somewhat effective as well (not too close or he starts meleeing). The bugs sometimes distracted him enough to not fire too much my way.

I found the second phase worked well enough with the infector as the bugs would run around and destroy the decoys. Then I'd shoot the one that was left with my SMG. Didn't really have too many issues with this phase.

Last phase I just used my SMG and followed the same basic strategies as everyone else (hugging pillar). Just pay attention to what he's saying to know what to do. If it's the phrase that means he's going to do his massive knockback crap just sprint to the opposite side of the pillar when he says it as he'll teleport to your current location. The other phrase that means he's gonna shoot you like mad, just stay on the opposite side of the pillar from him. I would just pop out from around the pillar in between these actions and shoot him with my SMG. Didn't take too long to kill him.

Don't really think I can use guides, since my internet is one of the crappiest out there (so bad everything I do online takes 1-3 seconds to respond to the actual game), phase 1 I just finally beat, finding out that I need to keep him close to me so he can't shoot those fireballs at me and shoot him with an auto shotgun. After failing with the LMG about 9 times, I finally passed phase 1 with the shotgun technique circling around him while also jumping. Phase 2 I have yet to try and complete, I don't think it's going to be easy, seeing as how I'm supposed to be fighting multiple of him. Really got excited when he got close to dead, then bam another phase. My EGO is overload, with an EGO rating of 236 (or somewhere in that range).

Random question; if you beat phase 1, and fail phase 2, do you have to repeat phase 1 again?

I was really struggling with this boss to a stage where I virtually gave up then one shotted him with this build I found on another post

Add the following perks: Displacement field, Escape Artist, Scavenger, Thickskinned
Use a respark (or rebel) shield.

Keep running and charging up and take your time

No. Just to the beginning of the phase you died in.

Combat Shotgun with slug (single target) 27 mag orange + BMG with overload work like a charm 0 deaths, first try without even watching any guide

Just be very good reacting with your dodge button and your dodge shoot will work wonders to his health

Phase 1:I just keep running around & dodging his charge attack.(Make use of rolling when he gets close)
Phase 2:I died a few times on this part but I did the following I just took cover & waited for 1 of him to do the jump shot attack to figure out which 1 he was & if all goes from there.Use cover & stay at range.
Phase 3:Kick his *** & use the pillars for cover.

    What I did

I just used a high capacity pump shotgun the whole time. Only time I had trouble was the first phase. Phase 2 was simple. Just blast the guys in the face when they ran at you and make nim come to you by hanging on one side of the room. Phase 3 was stupid easy. Did what the other guy did and just hugged a pillar when he did his attacks. Dropped the guy pretty easy once I switched to the shot gun. Also cloak really helped me in the first phase. he will do those really fast runs then jump off the wall a few times then once will stay still for a few seconds so its easy to blast him. Also helps if you get low of health, hide and regen.
