Need help with Matron [Island of Lost Soldiers]

Basically, I need to kill that cockroach under 3 min. I tried to do this about 30 times now, but non of my group members I've met so far seem to understand to focus fire on boss rather than killing minor mobs. Help would be much appriciated!

I find this happens on most of the co-op maps. Try to kill the boss in under x amount of time and no one tries for it OR better yet noone wants to pick each other up! It's co-op for a reason people!
