    Question about loot

I have seen on countless occasions where a lower level rarity and a lower level EGO rating weapon was much better than a higher one, for instance...

FRC Scattergun v FRC Birdshot Pump
    231 v 255
    Green v Orange
    166x12 v 45x16
    1.8 v 1.5
    13 v 16
    0.8 v 0.8
    20.0 v 16.0

Right from the damage, the orange weapon is completely gimped, 1992DMG v 720DMG
How can this be right? It doesnt have an extremely large amount of bonus stats to help make up for this either, so what is the point of having different rarity loots when one will be completely eclipsed by the other?

Higher rarity = more bonuses. I believe it is 1 more per level of rarity (note that melee or ranged damage type counts as a bonus but is not displayed in the same place on the item stats).

The base stat of a weapon does not change with rarity, just the number of bonuses that the weapon has (e.g. 15% grenade recharge on kill, 10% increased mag size, etc).

I see that it has the bonuses, but they dont come close to being as useful as 1000+ raw damage

You are looking at two different weapons in your example.

The point of Dreadburn's post is to show you that the same weapon (an FRC Beserker Shotgun) has the same base stats but different number of bonuses depending on rarity.

Equally with a 1000 damage gun the orange rarity will have more bonuses than the white, green, blue or purple rarities with the same base stats.

Yeah it's all about the bonuses and the variation. The higher you get in ego the more and different weapons you can find. They will have multiple mod slots already opened so you don't have to waste your ark salvage on it. I currently have few purples above 1000 ego rating and they have 4 (or was it 5) bonuses on them which is pretty sweet.

Which means your shotgun skill is going up, you are missing out on a lot of bonuses which further down the road you will regret.
