Thread: A players view

    A players view

As a long standing player on original Defiance i was disappointed when they announced 2050 but as i love the game i figured I'd sign up to the closed Beta and give it a fair shot. I also took the time this weekend to test the open Beta as well, and this is my opinion after both.

At first glance the games are almost identical until you get a look at the new skills setup and a few of the first mission objectives as they have been moved (slightly) then there was the constant freezing issues, these were followed by disconnections after a undetermined amount of time. Then there was a slight improvement when i realised you automatically pick up salvage again ( not the case on closed Beta) but unlike original Defiance you cant progress in the storyline until you are a certain level.
Now i know this is to try and balance gameplay and to stop players from moving through the game too quickly but after the free roaming experience of original defiance its somewhat frustrating to be forced to stay in one area for many many hours while you grind to the required level.

As i said earlier i love original Defiance and have played it for many years now but i cant see enough of a change in a positive way to make me want to play 2050 and this is very sad, especially considering that while Trion worlds have been putting all their efforts into 2050 current Defiance has been taking a nose dive.

Many longstanding players are leaving because of poor server management and because they feel like Trion have been lying to them, there are people who are paying for patron but cant even stay online long enough to claim their daily rewards. When people try and voice their frustrations with this situation they are banned from the forums ( 3 friends and counting) but there is no direct way for them to contact Trion about the patron issues or any other issues except to put in a ticket.

All things considered i would not recommend this game to anyone after the way trion has treated the current player base and there are to many obvious issues with a game that is supposed to be released in the next few weeks.

If they keep the original Defiance (which I still play) in its current broken state, I'd probably not play 2050 because I'm afraid that it will suffer the same fate sooner or later.

Devs, please end the original Defiance with a bang rather than making the few remaining player base leave with bitterness.

For starters, they should bring the store back and fix the lag (it's very bad unlike before).

Anything can go from that, like what you said for example.

I have mixed feelings about 2050 I've been with def 2013 since out on Pc, with all the lag constant disconnections (other heartbreaking stuff, my close friends would know about this) i still supported trion and the game i believe in. I dived into closed beta and then open beta i like what i see but then playing for a few min games freezes, disconnections alt-tab, black screen, stuttering screen and my pc can totally handle any good graphics game, i did buy the founders pack I will give it a go and see if it will live up to the promise that's been put to the players. If not i will just make a clean break this was the last time that i will lay trust in trion but to the devs i did see that you were very busy trying to sort all the stuff cant be easy but as a loyal player,I need to say that you need to keep your player base happy in order to get some much-needed funds in. Goodluck and ill be happy to play 2015 on the 6th of July.

I know for most people the freezes and CTDs are a dealbreaker and I understand why. But I'm not really as worried about those (except in terms of losing players) as I am about some of the things that seem to be intended or minor enough to be a low priority. Why? Because they know they have to fix the CTD issue. They will work on that and get it fixed because they know if they don't Defiance is done. The other stuff...it's a small team so it may take them a while to work through even just the ones they intend to fix.

I have to agree. been playing since '15 and this is my first on line game.
I'm really disappointed how this game has turned out. D1 has evolved into
a sorry state. Want to play the "new" version, but why? I keep going back to
the current state of D1. IF I play I think it'll only be free till they show me otherwise.

This is TRION here endith the Lesson.
How do you say Trion in German? Gamigo

@Jerrmy12 - I assume you mean the 2017 Christmas giveaway items to everyone?

I'm assuming Defiance will remain running for years to come, it may even become sentient with the programming being left all alone with just itself for company creating the impetus for it's evolution... after all the players have long ago given up due to it's continued lag and disconnect issues. Hmm... wonder what it will think of the Apocalypse? Will it want to make it stronger and more effective only to have no real testing ground to see how much fun it is...? Hmmm... how many milliseconds will it take to arrive at an optimal solution?

@Hit the Deck - I assumed they pulled the store intentionally, since it's tied to our purchases of bits, packs, etc... which is one of the 2 contributing sources of the Valor Commendations. When they are done processing EVERYONE's (a lot have played Defiance over 6 years, including $$ spent during it's beta) $$ they spent on Defiance, then they can put it back up. They might have to make a couple/few processing passes just to help ensure some accuracy checks. Better to be safe than piss off anyone it screws up on who was a paying customer.

Show some patience... what else can you do. Ok, walk away, ask on the forums, gripe to your friends. But other than that...?
