Go to friend function on Xbox one critical error out and kicks you

had the same issue earlier today. was playing with a friend, and after we completed an instance mission it separated us and we were unable to play together for 15 - 20 min due to getting kicked to the title screen with a character load error when using go to friend. for some reason it started working again until we got to another instance mission. during the mission we could only see the green arrow above our characters but not each other. in fact she was seeing another person who was matchmade with us, but i could not. and afterwards we couldn't play due the the same goto friend issue.
