I imagine, if they choose to do this again, the variant will be using Prototype weapons...where it has fixed abilities and no mod-slots. But I wonder how they'll manage the 'rarity' of it. The trick in all the seasonal stuff was, 'sure alot of seasonal stuff dropped' but added 'but will you actually get the mods you NEED for the specific WEAPON you have?"
My Oldefiance inventory is still filled with guns I had most but not all mods for. Or lonely mods for weapons I didn't have. Because of the old format of 'need x many mods to unlock the specials' you didn't really care as much if you threw in green or blue or whatever mods of the type, just having a full set was good enough.
but now...I dunno. Since weapons don't scale as easily, I'd hate to see 'your level non-prototype' guns dropping that you just 'age out of' in 100-150 PL or so. The only other way I see is the prototype route, but then that will likely mean they'd have to reduce the drop rate HUGE to keep the former Oldefiance sense of 'will you get everything before the event is done' feeling. On the other hand, if you have the same blueprint prototype route now, once you do Halloween 2018...you kinda won't need to ever again, just spend 50 cores and get the gun again at your level.
I have a fear, feeling, etc that to keep the imposed grind things will be only cosmetic. Maybe new 'holiday themed' skins for weapons that have no actual special quality in use. Anyone else have guesses?
