SOLVED: here's how your region/server is picked on consoles

OK, nice that u ps4 guys got things to work. Would be very nice too to get a reply from someone official that this is being looked into at the least. If this ignorance from Trionworlds itself persist, they lost at least four players right here. That is me and three of my friends, who didnt take the trouble of making an account and posting here, they just wanna play in the same way every other game on the MS Store works.

This is really a one of a kind thing with the servers being locked to the store the game is sold to. I'd suggest to back off this strategy as soon as possible, as it's clear it's not working, at all.

I think that everyone else agrees with you, this was the worst idea Trion had so far regarding 2050.

Region locking us was a terrible idea, I really hope they look at letting us choose a server. I don't mind creating a new character on the other server if I have to, but I'm not downloading the game twice and whatever when these days this shouldn't even be an issue. Until we get a choice I'll carry on playing but I'll be ftp until it's sorted.

hrm...i downloaded the beta from xbox insider hub. i was able to start d2050 at the same time like the ppl who bought a founder pack. now im wonder what server i join.
i mean im sitting in germany so it would be eu but im pretty shure i meet lots ppl from NA server while it was beta. trion im confused! pls unlock this region stuff and give us an option to switch between eu and na servers!

I believe that is what happened to me. I've a Swedish Xbox, Swedish account, using swedish store. But it still put me in NA, maybe because of the beta.

What we did for Xbox is just reinstalled the game from the Xbox Store.

Dutch xbox, Dutch account, using Dutch store, in NA servers too. Also an insider though (Alpha Skip-Ahead) so it must be related then or something. In the mean while, me and my buds play something else anyways

Exact same situation here! Me and all my swedish friends are on NA we found out today. But only I had the beta and we all downloaded the game from the swedish store on xbox. So the beta cannot be the problem. Also not all of us has insider update. I'm thinking they got it wrong some how and put us swedes in na....I have contacted support bc I'm not willing to start over and spend all those hours again for something they have done.

I bet that if you were saying that the game was great they would immediately answer you for your praises.

So, I have not got any answers yet. But, the region does not determine the server. They say it does but me and my friends are still on Sweden as region but if we change the language to UK English we get on the EU server. So they have done something very wrong somewhere. I want to use my own language in the xbox menus so I hope they fix this asap.

Ok so I need to confirm.. on XBOX are regions seriously f****d up.. My xbox was set to US english, Us english location, region Czech republic (definitely EU), and I was placed into NA server. These US english fields were default, I didnt changed them just because XB is not localized into Czech language.. BUT. When I switched to UK english (both fields) It worked even without reinstalling..

Only thing that was necessary was changing this, and restart of xbox and It seems it asks me for new character.. So most likely I'm on EU servers..

Friends from sweden, how about keeping UK localization with swedish language? Does It help? As It looks like Trion picked wrong field for deciding where these consoles belongs to. Instead of using region, they are using language locale.

In any way.. this region lock-in is complete madness.. why the heck I should choose with what friendfs I want to play? I have a lot of friend from both regions since oldfiance.. This is WAY worst decision from Trion.. Split people to some artifical boxes without any reason..
