Why is the weapon skill leveling so slow?

I dont understand why the leveling system for the guns is so slow to rank up, do you have to be a certain rank?

Also what is the in game currency even for theres nothing to buy from any of the vendors. The orange challenger would be nice to get. I have about 60k and dont know what to do with it..

Because they have to add stuff, so either save it or use it too raise you PL

I'm level 15 and none of my weapons have even leveled up a fraction of an inch.

Because Defiance 2050 is buffed enemies and nerfed almost everything that involves us players, including Valor program, so stingy.

So what causes weapon skills to increase is the amount of damage they do per shot. So if you are using an SMG or similar weapon that does little damage per hit but has a very high rate of fire, you'll see very slow progress. My Assassin is at level 8, Power Rank 462 or so and I'm already seeing obvious progress towards Rank 2 in both Pistols and Sniper Rifles and I have only done a few of the first story missions in Mt. Tam.

I'm ego 25 with a PR of close to 1000 and none of my weapon skills have moved.

Guys it's simple use salvage to lvl up early guns just like before it all deals with t1 t2 etc etc. I've beat nim and over the 2k mark they still have alot to add so just calm down and enjoy the game

my weapon skills are high, and my clanmate has a weapon skill over 51, so it's not that slow.
