So, I used to play Defiance, and from the stuff I was reading online, it seemed like 2050 would have all this new stuff, new stories, new areas to explore, shiny new guns...

In essence, a completely new game.

Well, within the first five minutes of playing (after all the cut scene stuff), the server was lagging so hard that there was at least three distinct instances of player/NPCs freezing, and then suddenly, there's an explosion out of nowhere, and oh, look, I'm dead somehow from...invisible explosions? Great. Another ten minutes saw even more lag and stuttering.

Clearly, the coding is unstable. It has to be. My PS4 had its cache cleared, and I'm on a 200 MBpS data line. I'm waiting for Trion to tell me it's my fault my game was lagging and freezing/glitching/stuttering.

From the half hour or so I've managed to play, I've come to one conclusion: Trion ported over the 32-bit game to 64-bit, made it HD, tweaked a few UI and EGO progression elements, and called it a new game. Even their advertising for the game was deceptive: Nowhere was it mentioned that Defiance 2050 would just be a simple port to the PS4 that updated a few elements and make things look prettier. That's the essence of what they did, anyway.

Trion didn't even open up the prison area in San Francisco that we've been waiting for since the TV show was cancelled.

Seriously, WTF, Trion?

Meanwhile, Trion be like...
