Hotshot: Crystal Defense problem

I have been unable to complete this mission. Each time I get a score of 10,000 or higher and the mission ends I get a FAILED result. When I run out of grenade launcher ammo the mission will immediately post a FAILED result. I am assuming that this is correct behavior, but I am unsure.

Why do I keep from failing this mission? Like I said I have earned a score of 10,000 or higher and not used all the ammo in the grenade launcher and I still fail the mission.

I didn't have a problem with this hotshot but have the same problem with the reservoir chicken one.

If you go out of bounds (outside the faint black circle on your radar),
suicide, or run out of ammo (before getting a medal level) it will result in a failure.

I believe you'll also fail if they destroy all the crystals.

yeah, they can't destroy crystals. Especially large bugs will splash when you kill them and damage any near crystal.
