There seems to be some confusion as to whether or not this game is an actual MMO. A lot of comparisons are being tossed around not a lot of thought seems to be going into what is being said. So I say it's high time we define what an MMO is, in it's very core and just let the words speak for themselves.
Massive
Multiplayer
Online
Massive: In scope? Innovation? Are we talking map size? Available quests? Or is this simply the precursor to the player count...?
Multiplayer: Pretty straight forward. Multiple players.
Online: The game is played over the internet.
So, as these loose and general defenitions stand, let's look at the game.
Massive: The game is by far pretty large in map and in scope. It's nothing ground breaking mind you. But there is plenty to do and a fairly large area to do it in. And how many other games are releasing along side tv shows that may effect one another-ish.
Multiplayer: Yes, there are multiple people playing. Exactly how many? Don't know. But it sure is a lot more than the standard online fair of 24. Hell, Shadow War matches cap at 132. Seems multiplayer enough for me.
Online: Uh, yeah...
Anything I'm missing? Is this, or is this not an MMO?
I say yes with a capital "Duh!"
