    Trion, fix your patcher.

It's been more than a week since launch and I still have not managed to play the game because the patcher resets every time a new build is released.

I have a very slow download speed, yes. It's 0.05MB/s which I know to most people is unheard of. I don't have much money to throw around, however, and also live in SE Asia. The thing is, I've never had a problem with games before because no matter how long it took, I'd EVENTUALLY be able to download it over the course of many days.

With the patching system Defiance has, however, it just becomes literally impossible. Over the weekend, I managed to download 6GB, but when I turn on the comp again on monday, I suddenly find the patcher has reset and I have to start from square one. I try again, manage to download 2GB, and today again it has reset. It's done this several times since I started trying to download on launch day.

Every time this happens I find that there's a new numbered folder created in my defiance/live/download folder where it seems to download everything from scratch. For example, prior to today it was downloading everything into a folder named '54', and got up to 2GB worth of data. Now after the download reset, I find that there's a new folder in there named '56' that's seemingly downloading everything that's ALREADY in the '54' folder all over again.

Am I right in assuming this is due to new builds being released on the servers? If so, why do I need to download the entire patch from scratch each time? Why can't I just download the base client and begin the patching process afterwards? I have tried renaming the files such as "bundle-54.0" into "bundle-56.0" to see if that would force the patcher to detect the existing files, but to no avail.

What's the solution here? Am I just SOL until I get a faster internet speed, or until I'm lucky enough to have a period where Trion doesn't release a new patch long enough for me to finish my DL?

This is honestly the most frustrating patching system I've ever come across. At this rate the show will be out before I manage to get into the game, if ever. Any help would be appreciated. I also purchased the game and am launching it from steam, if that helps any.

If your connection is THAT slow then I'm not sure how you would be able to play this fast action paced online game to begin with. There is lots going on in this game. I just don't know that you will have much luck if you can't even download it and it takes DAYS. I wish you luck but I'm guessing like you said, your probably going to need faster internet.

Clear your cache on your xbox. Reset your router. Check your ping.

I'm on the PC, not the xbox. Second, I play many fast paced online games from Starcraft to Planetside without any trouble. I average around 200-250 ping when playing on US servers or P2P with US players. It's only my download speed itself that's slow. Again, this is the only game that I've ever had any trouble getting started with due to this patching system.

    Bump aswell

I just purchased the game few days ago, and same thing.

Been having to restart the download again everytime i turn off the computer and back on again. If i pause, then X out of the patcher then re-open it, it will resume. But when turning the computer off it restarts it.

I don't have the luxury of having my computer on all night downloading the game as it states it will take 8 hours and i work all day and possibly have maybe max of 4ish hours at a time to download.

    Is there a work around?

The slow download speed isn't from your Internet connection, it's from the broken patcher. I'm having the same problem and it's extremely frustrating.. My download will crawl at .35kb/sec, then halfway through, slow down to .06kb/sec. I bought the game last week and have yet to play it.

Well i went to bed and turned the computer. I woke up and restarted the launcher and its actually starting off at the point where i left off. Slow again, but working.

So i think its something to do with the build when they update the game. They don't let you continue with the download then patch it after, whilst making you download the whole thing again - well thats what it looks like at the moment with the folders in my directory etc everytime a new build comes out.
