Well I've been playing for about 2-3 days now, prob a total of like 8-10 hours. I'm ego lvl 132. Ive been doing the main missions along with most of the side missions. Along the way trying to figure out how everything else works. Am I supposed to be a higher level by now? I see people that are 600-700 already. Was there a head-start program or something? Or am I doing something wrong? I just joined a clan that gives me 7% across the board too, so that should help...
I wouldn't worry about it. Ego level doesn't have a huge effect.
Just play the game and enjoy it.
And as an example.. I've played 106 hours and am Ego level 1332.
Try hunting for pursuits. You get lots for those

There are 3 ways to get EGO points : XPing (10 points each time you fill up that yellow xp bar), weapon leveling and pursuits (which gives fat EGO points rewards). You have probably missed on the later.
Open the "goals" section off the EGO wheel in the menu and look at the pursuits there (104 are available for season one).
awesome, will try those and thank you. Also I am still using the original gun that I started the game with. Its called Machinist's Gun. Should I be using something else by now?
You should replace your gun's soon as they max the exp bar. You also have a gun lvl which gives you extra stats for gun types, that only get's exp if your gun is not already caped.
Yes listen to this advice. If you play with one weapon you will not progress your overall weapon level.
