What makes "That's That" a prototype?

If I understand it prototypes aren't supposed to be the best but there is supposed to be something unique about them, like Bonesaw shooting a saw blade for example.

So like what is the special thing about That's That? Is it just a name on a mediocre rocket launcher that makes it worthy of being labeled a prototype?

Technically its a story prototype i.e. has a connection to the game's plot.

The idea behind it was to have a single rocket mag with a slow reload speed that dealt a crapton of damage. It fulfilled it's purpose for a while at launch, especially in PvP. People were running around with That's That and Sawed off Shotguns. It also one shot most mobs/trash that weren't mini bosses. Basically, it became meta.

Then they reduced it's damage after people complained about being one shot in PvP, and it being meta. As a result it became lackluster. The dev response to this was not wanting one weapon or weapon type to be considered over powered or a clear choice (meta) compared to other weapons.

It's also a replica of the rocket launcher Torc uses in the story missions. Minus the homing/lock on ability and screaming war cry of "Yahoooooo!!!" (Or is it "Helloooooo!") while shooting it. Though you can probably replicate the war cry if you really want. :-)

Torc's variant is called Roxi. Thats That still is the most powerful non nano rocket launcher, Thats That having its projectile velocity reduced is what mostly hurt the weapon.

    Yeah, this.

I can live with they reducing its damage by 10% but the projectile speed is a bit too slow after the nerf.
