Oddities.... things not found in game but seem obvious to include.

A few things not in game that really make me scratch my head. I am not hugely dedicated to the game, so maybe some of these are in the game but i have just missed them ?

---No stash/vault/bank--- For that matter no way to share between characters, yes i know this game is not very alt friendly but my daughter likes to play the same MMOs as i do and i like to help her with items/in-game cash.

    ---No mailing---

---Lack of global chat--- Sure there is a vocal group of players that like this, but i really feel this game is just even more empty than GW2, no global chat removes even more social interaction, put it in game and make it so those who do not want it able to switch it off.

---Auction House ?--- Is there one that i don't know of seems rather odd that there is not one.

---Cover system--- Why make a 3rd person shooter and not even have a rudimentary cover system ?

---Bag sorting--- The way the inventory is handled is just bizzar, why not allow us to organize the inventory how we want it ?

---Crafting--- Is gun modding supposed to be Defiance version of crafting ? If so, it is very shallow and not very far reaching.

Anyhow, i am sure i will get flamed for asking, wanting, whining (whatever i will be labeled as), even thinking, but it just seems like such a shallow release for a Trion game. Compare this to Rift and you just have to shake your head as to why it was not just released as a 3rd person shooter and removed anything to do with MMO's.

While i like this game, i just wish there was so much more to it, if it was in development for 5 years, what did they do with the time ?

Oh well, bring on the white knight flames, i am used to it when i question illogical things.

Considering how the game was in development for 5 years, I think 3 of those years were spent in Big Important Meetings figuring out "What is Defiance?" with SyFy.

I can tell you typical replies you gonna get.

it is not a MMO (even though Trion says it is a MMO) so no need of bank/stash/mail/auction house. Even Borderland had stash feature. That or some guy will just blame it all on lore.

You can keep increasing your bag space, there's no need for a bank.

Mailing would be useful I suppose, wouldn't hurt to let people use the APS to mail to alts or friends.

    Not opposed to global chat.

No need for an AH. Look what it did to Diablo 3. An AH might defeat the purpose of the game.

Cover system? No. Play 360 shooters if you want that.

    You CAN sort your bags.

I don't see the need for crafting. The mod system is basically crafting.

The game does have a trade system and you can trade items and money scribs only that i can tell.

Bank of some kind would be nice but nope.

No mailing don't care given you can instaltny get to another player on your friends list or in your group to trade.

Auction is not needed it's a fps first, i don't see one in other fps

Most fps games don't have a cover system so this really does not matter here.

Inventory is fine i don't see a issue with it.

you don't have crafting in other fps games so it's not different here.

Overall all it's a FPS first and a MMO second. that being said people are thinking it's a mmorpg or a mmofps and it's not. 75% or so comes from the fps world with some elements of the mmo world. Understanding the difference would help to better understand what to expect in the game.

I enjoy my time in-game, but you're asking all the questions I've been asking myself since I started.

I can forgive the lack of an Auction House/Broker and an under-developed-at-launch "crafting/modding". That's not a huge deal for a game like this ... but the chat/social/LFG "system" we've got is just so phenomenally sub-par that it's almost embarrassing.

And I get the whole "no banks" in this world, but even in the 14-minute promo clip, it shows the character digging a hole to stash his arc-tech. I'm pretty sure my character has hands and explosives ... why can't a dig a spot to stash this extra gear?

Wait when i say auction house i am not talking about the craptastic AH that D3 had, i just wanted a place to sell items to other players using "INGAME" currency.

How would having a cover system hurt the game play ? I am not playing on a console, i just think it makes sense in a game where there is no serious melee and its all shooting.

Oh well i guess pithy or knee jerk comments are he best i can get from some people.

I wasn't referring to the cash AH for Diablo 3. I was referring to the one that used in-game currency.
When I played D3 with my GF all we did was get gear from the gold AH cause it was better than all the drops we were getting. It defeated the whole purpose of the game, which is to get tons of loot and slowly upgrade your toon.

I wouldn't oppose an AH if it was just mods or something, but I would oppose one that would sell weapons/shields/grenades.
