For those who so emphatically hate TPS, when you lock into a target you keep your eyes in the target and your character disappears from your POV, making all these FPS TPS an unnecessary comparison.

3rd person is more tactical then first.

    1. you see your char postion and all sorrundings
    2. u clearly see grenades and explosives around or behind you.
    3. u can see others comming from behind / sides with the right zoom and player movement (who does not always check blind spots when not in combat derp)
    4. it gives u RPG immersion by seeing your char and gear, plus having the camera over your shoulder when shooting is more "cinimatic" immersion like gears of war or spacemarine.

i really suggest u try out warhammer space marine its extremly cheap nowadays around £10 in the UK on all platforms. and it really shows u how good 3rd person really is. esp whe using a chain sword and sliceing orks / players in half

Ok, but I think your missing one of the big point's of first person which is "iron sight".

And kirix people enjoy first person due to realism. I could really care less if it's more tactical, and some could say it's more of a cheat than anything since you can look over and sometimes though walls.

iron sights also for third person just the camera zooms over your shoulder down the barrel of the gun and your aim is just as accurate.

again go play warhammer 40k: space marine for a true 3rd person experiance and do some pvp

In any FPS out there, what really can you say you see about your body? Can you see your legs? Can you see your arms, can you see your belly? No, you only see your hands, that is not a real FPS.

I think the debate over TPS vs FPS is not really interesting because both have their pros and cons. Some players will prefer the third person view while the first person view will appeal to other players.

TPS : Tactical / Cover mechanic
    FPS : Realism

So the right thing to do is not to give arguments and examples that are supposed to demonstrate that one is better than the other, in which case that would be your own opinion and not a fact, but to ask Trion if they have already planned on a first person view so players can have an alternative and decide for themselves (like Firefall did).

    My 2 cents

First I don't see how that really matters since looking at your feet is kinda irreverent when playing a game. BTW a lot of game have what your talking about or at least on PC they do.

kirix Well when I played beta I don't remember ever being able to do that.

Ahhh you see the point, FPS is not that real after all, it is not as real as RL, so it feels awkward many times, I have tried and I don't like it.

How does it feel awkward? And still your looking out of your characters eye's not some invisible floating camera behind you. And even though it might not feel exactly like real life it still feels so much closer to it then TP.
