So, i have what i think is a great idea to solve the progression issue.

So, one of the main points of controversy for this game is the progression, which currently is stuck in a bit of a catch 22. As most people know already, gun stats don't really change as you level, making it so a level 10 ego rating orange weapon, and a level 1,000 ego rating orange weapon will have little to no difference.

the catch 22 is this, you can't make the weapons better and still have the game work in a wide-scale skill based manner where people that are level 1 can still stand a chance against people level 1,000. However this upsets people that want gear progression because they feel they have nothing to work for/toward.

THE SOLUTION! It's actually incredibly simple. Implement rare weapon designs. We can't change stats without making imbalances, but looks have no impact on balance. For example, make an LMG "mini gun". the stats could be the same as any full auto LMG, same accuracy, same bloom, same damage, same clip size. BUT, instead of looking like an LMG, you get a big *** mini-gun, with the mini-gun backpack and all.

I feel like it would be rather easy to implement, it would give those of us that want progression something to work for on getting rare weapons that are rare because of how they look, and not what they can do. Everyone's happy.

    So, what do you think?

nice try but the issue is people want to have high level guns mean something - could be enough to remove the exp cap from the oranges so you dont have to cange off but thats about it unless they get better base stats after so many levels

you said you had an idea to solve the progression issue, making your gun look different by no way resolves that whatsoever. People want to have something to look forward to when it comes to ranking up high and spending time in game. Some people are using the same gun they received 30 minutes into play because weapons do not differ based on skill, and I feel that is a major negative.

I've been trying to read all the forums on weapon stats and dmg, and maybe i just haven't progressed enough to really see it but I've seen some AR's that do 40dmg, some that do 227dmg and the one i'm using now does 379dmg. This isn't including mods that i've attached it reads as base before I do anything to it. If there's a forum that breaks this down more i'd love a link to it so I can understand it better.

Could have sworn I read somewhere that the higher the level rating...once you fully rank up the gun...the more of an impact it will have on your gun progression with that class.

    Could be B.S.

Here would be the example: Level 100 weapon once filled with EXP gives "x" improvement to that gun's class rank. Level 200 weapon once filled with EXP gives "x + ?" improvement to that gun's class rank. Etc.

Therefore you want to use and max out the higher rated guns...to get your gun class rank up. Make sense?

Again, could be BS...but it made sense to me when I heard it. Just not sure from where...

You're kind of on the right lines, MADD, but in truth, most of the differences are so slight you can pretty much ignore them. Sure, there is a bit of wiggle room but unless you're a proper number cruncher, you don't notice, it's not apparent.

See this is what a lot of people, myself included, are annoyed about. We want it to be noticible, we want to be rewarded for the time we put into it, think about it, you shouldn't be able to go kill the main Q end boss with the same thing you took down your first mutant, in the starting area no less, with exactly the same weapon. Obviously people have changed their weapons, but some people have actually done it, start to finish, without changing, just to prove the point.

So by the sounds of it people just want to see weapon dmg increase not by small amounts like 40-100-160-210. But more as 40-210-557-789-1236 like actually huge increases in dmg. I understand that, i'm starting to get it I think.

Exactly, Arc, so that we can showcase what we've done in the game compared to someone whos just logged in. Its not about colours, its about reward.
