Weapon progression - when will it be added?

    Hey,

it seems kind of strange to have weapon rarities that are utterly meaningless. It makes no difference at all if you have a white weapon or the same weapon name in other qualities, except for some useless synergy boni.
Are the tooltips wrong or is this intended?
I don't want to have a huge grind but SOME difference between weapons would be appreciated. The whole loot system seems pointless, since the only difference between weapons is the kind of weapon ie an "VOT Pulsar" is a "VOT Pulsar". Sometimes they have nano effects but one can't even tell how often they trigger and what they do, which should be explained in detail btw.
So whats the point in searching for a blue "VOT Pulsar"? Why have this loot system anyway?

Blues purples and oranges have slightly better bonuses and unlocks, but this is a generally flat leveling curve compared to the generally ridiculous MMO curve so as to keep PvP competitive. Personally I like it, sick of the gear grinding in traditional MMOs

It is to keep things balanced. Having someone with an orange out dpsing and destroying everything in site just because it is an orange wouldn't be fair to anyone in PvP and PvE. They want this game to depend on your skill and not on your stats.

There is sort of a progression as weapon with a good synergy set and the according mods will outperform any other gun. Though there are only few of those, and they are expensive. I'm not sure Trion wants more progression at this point. I for one would welcome it though.

You still have to gear grind, now you're just being specific with the grind,. given the horrible loot drops and RNG. Trading one loot grind for another under the guise of "balance" that's all it is.

Is it better to out-monster the monster or to be quietly devoured?

It's done this way intentionally so as to emphasize player skill over levels.

"White" damage doesn't scale. Bonuses do. They can be significant when they stack with mods, but otherwise white damage is fairly flat.

Maybe to add here. Weapons that are looted from enemies or lock boxes seem to have slighty higher base damage.

Nah, they're all the same. The only time weapon damage changes is when there is a bonus modifier on the barrel mod or the bonus stat and it's usually a 2% bonus at the most.

I love that this game has horizontal progression. It provides balance in PvE AND PvP. Don't have to worry about high Ego players killing everything before you, destroying ark falls before you can participate, etc. I wish more games would go down this road (Guild Wars 2 kind of did and is kind of sticking to it).

And to the people who are against it and ask "why play, what's the incentive?". How about playing just to play, and to have fun?
