Devs : A concern of [Orange Weapons]

At the time I post this I am Ego rating 1,033 and enjoying almost every aspect of this game. Given its balance, your beautiful job of patching up neigh everything that the thousands of users creek about. I wish to add a squeak aswell.

Now I am fully able to understand I "may be doing it wrong" alas I cannot for the life of my teir 4's, tier 3's, arkfall hunting, co-op raiding, boosted item drop, crazed on end hours of hunting, pull a single orange tier weapon. I've been lucky enough to gain an assortment of wonderful purple tier along my path upwards and keep quite a few in my inventory, which luckily has kept the fringe of my spirit up but orange tier (Let alone these named weapons I've been hearing about) have been completley elusive.

It seems really hard to think about getting orange mods + orange weapon + orange sheild + orange grenade etc for that really hardcore custom gun you would name yourself when after countless (in seriousness, lost count) attempts to claim a single bit of that glory doesnt fall in my lap.

Now the reason I squeak is because to get a special weapon which is a goody in a grab bag comes with random effects which, may or may not, match your play style. so inturn if your looking for something to fit you juuuust right. You are looking for the grab bag treat, within it another treat within a grab bag.

I laugh a little as the prenopse I've rued about is maddening to say the least. Perhaps some incite into the 'best chance' at getting an orange weapon or some sort of 'set goal' would reward a player could help. Im a patient man but to reach so far and see so little does start to dampen the spirits.

I ask you kindly not to take this as complaining about the game, but simply a minute gamer frustration. This is starting to make me put down the controller though.

Understandbly as much as orange is rare, my main reference is towards a orange weapon is step 1, then finding the right orange weapon step 2, then finding orange mods, then finding orange mods with the correct synergy, and then finding an orange sheild, then finding the right orange sheild, and then finding an orange grenade, and then finding the right orange grenade. Its a little bit of a pipe dreams to think of putting it all together when even the grind up to 1000 doesnt even yeild step 1.

in essence, a grab bag within a grab bag within a grab bag. The oranges are a quest of inception.

Tier 2 boxes is where I got both of mine, I'd rather take 16 chances over 4

Are you able to see orange weapons at the reputation vendors yet ? Granted there will be some randomness on the mods type but at least not on the mods synergies, those are fixed. That if you find something to your liking at those vendors, of course.
I myself will go for the "prepared" set from Top Notch and "scavenger" from Soleptor.

I am by no means attacking you with this post but.

1. EGO as of now means nothing in regards to drops, all players are put on even ground here. If you are "grinding" ego for better weapons you are taking this game the wrong way. Though you aren't saying you are.
2. Yes, there is extreme randomness with obtaining the "right" orange weapon/shield or whatever for you. However as stated above you can still obtain a legendary and use that to trade or barter with other players if you do not want it for something you'd like.
As of now the player communication in game suck but in time i'm positive they will add region chat/trade chat/auction house/bazaar. For now we have this.

3. Keep this in mind that Defiance is going to be a long term game that is constantly growing and expanding. There is absolutely no rush to get decked out in the best gear in a month or anytime soon.
4. As of now the best chance of legendaries is T3 lockboxes. Coop doesn't give anything I believe but in the future that could change and raids could be added that yield more reliably frequent legendaries. Even now with the lockboxes the chances are pretty fair, much better than say borderlands where you could spend a week killing a boss and getting nothing.

Thank you guys for getting back to me on this. I really appretiate all the help. Knowing now T3's are my best chance for them it helps refine my focus.

Heh, Duckphone, dont mean to be defensive but I didnt grind for drops. I just enjoyed a bit to much of the game, and this fraction of it, being eye out for legendary gear, just never fell into place at all. I felt more like I was doing something wrong at this point. haha.

Well, I know this game is still on launch month, I wasnt expecting anything flashy, just felt weird not have that feel of progression yet. Seems like its normal though for everyone. Really makes me happy to have a strong community backing me up.
