I really cant answer that question, at the moment I really cant see what the point of making this game was aside from a money spinner for the TV show.....Although with any luck that will change at the patch.
Yet somehow most people can solo several of them at once. Amazing!
P.S. You aren't intended to just stand there and absorb damage, you have to take cover.
The shields make the game harder. Most of the raiders don't have shields, however they have a strong attack power to make up for that. Also, the Dark Matter forces have shields because they are the harder enemies in the game.Originally Posted by ghost9394

I almost soloed the whole game the only places I ever see people are at ark falls and when fast traveling once I leave those places I see no one.

Shields are like in GTA bulletproofs only an extra to resist more damage. The good is that they recharge when you are noy taking damage. I recomend a respark

Delay recharge 3 or less
with this stats.
You also can try perks that benefits the shield.
I did solo almost all the game too and that shield helped me a lot.
Essentially the only use I get out of shields is when I get surprised by enemies who spawn behind me (happens all of the time) and blast me, it gives me time to roll away or cloak. Shields paired with cloak work pretty good b/c when you cloak it recharges your shields. However, I also tend to play a sniper/stealth character with a shotty for when they get close.
