    No server selection for consoles?

I play with a lot of people from different countries and convinced one to buy the game (hes from Australia). After he bought it and patched we both got on and could not play together....he is on eu servers and I am on us. I have no idea why trion would make regional servers and not give the option to pick which one you would like to play on for he consols. Pc has an option to play on different servers and I have never played a mmo that did not allow this. I don't know how many other people have this issue but i would hope they are just trying to work out bugs on it with consoles and plan on allowing it in the future. The game is great and I bought it to play with friends online and not being able to do that diminishes the quality to me severely.

That may or may not be determined by X-Box's own regional settings. It's been years since I last owned a console, but if I remember correctly... you can change the region you're registered to in the Live settings from the user dashboard. That -might- help you out, I don't know. I never had to use it for a game, I just know that sometimes people would switch to EU registry to get early access to things that came out later in the NA region.

We tried that but it seems like his game or console was region locked. We have never had a problem playing other games togother other than connection issues and laggy servers.

Damn. I've got nothing, then. I'm NA and play with an EU friend sometimes without incident, but we're PC users and both bought it through Steam. I don't know what the deal is in this case with the console regional settings.

Ive heard they arw debating on putting that option on consoles but I don't see why they wouldn't do that on release. I have friends that play on us servers and we all play together on most everygame. Just sad to play a great online game and cant play with who you want due to something that simple.

there are a few reasons why they wouldnt do it.
One reason might simply be numbers. Im going out on a limb here, but most of the console gamers on defiance are already probably US gamers, thus if people where to leave the eu servers to join the US servers (which i assume is the most likely case rather than other way round) would result in the eu servers becoming dead and much less of an mmo experience for those who do not wish to play with bad latencies and a different timezone.
These arent facts, just thoughts and opinions.
I understand that there are many who wish to play with their friends from around the world, but at the same time, if the resulting factor is that the eu servers become dead, i really hope they dont do it.
