This has incorrect information. It says all mobs must be killed prior to using the turret but they do NOT have to be. As long as the turret has been reset and everything is fighting away from (not hitting) the turret, you're good to go. In the easiest scenario, it's to let the Hulker pull everything.

Some people just got lucky I guess. It's fun but you are going to die a lot.

I logged off dozens of times & abandoned the quest at least 6 times in 4 hours. I read in another thread that if you pass the farm on the way from the quest giving area you're screwed. I started quest then fast traveled to the next closest area and came at it from the opposite side and didn't have a problem.

The giant pulls agro from the raiders and hellbugs that are just down the road and then it's mayhem. Or someone coming to do it pulls agro with them.

It's a great place to farm those rockets for the contract though!

Just use your car to mow-down the skitterlings then killing the hulker is fairly easy..

If you get a monarch aswell, well, they might fight each other but i'd target the hulker first.

I couldn't get the 4th gun till I beat the Raider Hulker a few times and had to come from the opposite direction and not go through all the raiders for the 4th gun to be able to be activated or whatever. Could of used that Reaper minigun around that time.

I had a similar experience with a side mission in San Francisco, where I had to place two bombs or something and the area was extremely well defended by mutants right from the get go but as soon as I killed 2-3 of them 3 helicopters decided to drop a couple dozen more right as not one not two but three mutant grenadiers popped out and every time I killed them 3 more would show up totaling in 9 grenadiers when the dust had settled and everything was dead. I usually solo all my side missions but man did I regret not bringing a buddy for that one, damn good fight tho lol

Haha. I had just tried this one the other night, but due to an arkfall right on top of the area, the massive and fast respawns, other people already activating the turrets, and the second coming of Christ, I got exhausted after about 30 minutes, so I quit the quest and moved on to the next
