yeah I think there's no doubt on that

I think though the arguement is on the "RPG" part

though it has skills leveling and stuff so I think it could fit

technically ANY game is an rpg.

wether your driving a car in Gran turismo, or playing a footballer. killing aliens, or building a house. all of them are playing a role. so a role playing game.

It is certainly not "single player online" - most events are collective (arkfalls, instances). Just you can choose if you want to be in group with friends or play "alone" with strangers.

As for RPG part - yes, there are many RPG elements. Like quests, switchable outfits. But RPG part isn't too deep: for example your toon does not have agility / stamina / mana / etc. and you cannot change pants alone (only whole outfit) + outfit doesn't have any bonuses (+3 agility).

I wouldnt say all games can be defined as RPG just cuz you play a role, just like Defiance cant be defined as a racer game just because you drive a car there etc

If forced to classify it, I would called it an MMOTPS, from what I've seen. It has RPG elements (as most games do these days), but I think the dominant mechanical aspects of the game are more TPS than RPG.

oh yea i agree, theres expectations to any labels, ie rpg have character development the player can customise, skills etc.

but technically speaking is what i mean. i wouldnt expect an rpg label on a racing game. but you are playing a role. the other parts would be player expectations.
