    “Tag” you’re it!

Something that has really bothered me since the original game. Players tagging contracts. This was a major issue in D13 and now it’s happening in 2050. I wasn’t going to post about it but it’s getting out of control.

“Why even log in to a game if you aren’t going to play the game?” I ask this often when I see someone run in, shoot one enemy then leave. Or when I come into a contract and all the enemies are spawned because another player started it and then left.

I tend to call these players out in zone chat because I find this way of gaming very lazy. It’s inconsiderate to other players. Most don’t respond and the ones that do usually give some excuse.

I hope that after these bug fixes and new content comes that the devs will be able to put time towards fixing this so that players can’t tag contracts (or arkfalls for that matter. Showing up late with 0 score but still get to buy from the runner? For other players work? Yeah, ok).

That's why they made the arkhunter bounties that give PG. PG is the only currency worth anything in this game, rep is worth nothing due to silly rng at vendors, so contract tagging is useless. Can't tag "kill 200 ennemies with pistol".

While I know there are players who do this sort of thing with contracts, I do want to point out that there are a number of legitimate reasons why someone might start a contract and leave with it unfinished. Maybe they have been in a queue for a co-op (and we know sometimes that can take a loooong time) and suddenly its a go, or maybe a clannie called out a major arkfall final and that has priority, maybe real life intervened, you just can't assume they are just tagging the contract, you really have no idea.

Not an exploit, technically. Bug? Maybe. Intended? Doubtful. Probably an oversight.

Though I understand this side of the issue I feel like if you kill an enemy and leave for any reason that you should not earn credit for the contract. The player should have to start it all over and be in the contract area when it ends with score to earn credit.

Also, most of the time I see players run in kill one enemy then leave. Only to find them at the next contract doing the same thing. In D13 it was a major issue. Players wouldn’t even attempt to kill anything and was still earning credit.

In D13 ps3, I watched a player do this several times, so I called them out...asked zone "what do you call a player who milks the contracts by starting and leaving, forcing others to finish"....the first answer said it all...."A Veteran".

I never spent any of the faction currencies and there all maxed out, so there is no really reason to do those contracts. If people want to run in and get a kill and run away that's on them. I wouldn't let it get to you. That has been going on for ever. Even if they get one kill that's one less you have to take out! There are so many possible reasons tho why someone may show up get a kill and leave. Also I think if you get a kill and leave you only get credit for it if your still in the same phase. If you go to another phase I dont think you get credit for it! Such as if your clan calls out a final and it's in a different phase. I dont think that contract you tagged counts.

You are correct. When I am teleporting to other players...if I end up at a contract that I do not want to do right now, I try to teleport to a player in a different phase...that way, I avoid completing the contract.

I would advise you not follow me, unless you want to be guided to holes in the ground and have your video game character die. I am just your mysterious guide. That is all that needs to be known down here. Defiance!
