Also, because of the Preparedness perk, your main damage weapon is being reloaded at 9% every second while you're regenning your own shield manually this way. You can swap right back and keep firing.

If you're not doing any of the above, then a Respark shield is IMO the only viable shield to use. Period.

Edit, the approach outlined above is also true if you're in a co-op with a dedicated healer. They keep your shields topped off while you blaze away and "tank" out front for the team.
Yeah this works but you essentially take yourself out of the battle to heal (even if for a short time), but with a great respark you can more or less just keep killing just my preference.

The respark sounds like a good idea - I need to keep an eye out for them

I use Respark Blastproof II D:

    EGO: 322
    Capacity: 1048
    Recharge/Sec: 40%
    Recharge Delay: 3
Bonus: Take 10% less damage from your explosives

It's the best shield I've found so far. I'm EGO 603.

I have found shields with nano resistances....how much is that resistance? 100%? 10% like the self-explosives one?

True enough, which is why I generally just wear a Respark full time myself. Situationally, though, it can be useful to have a 1600+ shield depending on what you're up against. And again, in group co-op with a dedicated healer, IMO it's a no brainer to have the other three people running with 1600+ shields, because the BMG user can top all 3 of you off at the same time when needed. Assuming you're a coordinately group.

So is it ok to use a shield with 80% recharge after 10 secs of not being hit??
