Actually any mmo could be boiled down to that. Did you know in WoW all you have is Kill X mobs, collect Y items or Kill Boss Z quests? OMG WoW is incredibly generic and all the same!

Joe either didn't play Defiance for long or played in early beta since that is what his review comes across as. Heck, some of the video glitches he shows were in beta and have long since been fixed.

Angry is right about almost everything imo.

Now it's up to Trion to show us if they care or not.
So you bought the 200 dollar edition? When you could have bought the 60 dollar standard and gotten content with the game, since there is also a free version of content that goes with the DLC stuff ( for those that don't purchase it )? And you spent money on bits to buy things in cash shop?

Hate to say it - that's not the games fault, that is your own....

75 bucks for game after taxes. 44 bucks for season pass. 75 bucks in bits. Ok not 200 bucks but close.

Bought bits for costumes, mandatory inventory increases, mandatory boosts, and for future must have items that will show up there eventually....

Yes, it's my fault for buying this heavy into a game that will inevitably fail unless trion LISTENS. Oh well, it won't be the first time.

Guess you didn't know you get more inventory slots as you level up your EGO Rating then eh? Or that there are "arkfall codes" you could have linked to your account to get extra slots too? It would have saved ya some cash, say about - 75 dollars worth of it?

Lol Conneri, a lot of the hyperfrenetic onscreen persona thing is part of his brand... it is the "angry" joe show after all Once you get past that and actually look at the stuff he's critiquing though, he does tend to put together some pretty insightful and very intelligent arguements together, certainly a lot more so than some other "energetic" reviewers who's commentary can be so shallow, you need an electron micrometer to find any depth. (Yeah I'm looking at you, Tobuscus) He's also not a patronising, smug sell out like some Biscuits I've seen... *cough*

Not trying to come off as an AJ fanboi, as I agree he does tend to gloss over good points in order to dwell on the poorer aspects - but again thats a branding thing.

I have 139 inventory atm; 73 of it is now taken up by future trainer weapons since only way to get the good types that don't suck is from drops in most part. Like to point out that it takes 30-40 guns to hit lvl 20 in each...more or less depending type. Also, with this crazy loot boost they gave us...I can farm 100 items an hour or more. Try that with stock 40-60 inv space and this crappy salvage UI rofl.

Way to base your opinion on those of a YouTube personality. You must be a unique individual.

The fact that he made a review on this, without playing through the game, and also playing on a really crappy PC (his resolution is horrible), doesn't help. For a guy who gets paid from youtube hits and subscribers as a "reputable" game reviewer.... he really has no idea what he's talking about.

Reviews are supposed to be unbiased when you go into them, and you should play them with an open mind. Things he did neither of.

If he wanted to find things out about the game, he could look for them - yet he was banking on being spoon fed content and details.

The funny part of all this is, all the people I see defending him are those who joined in April and have 1 post (for the most part). All the others complaining and hating are those that did so in the beta weekends and such. Trion needs to lock down the forum registration to those only having a CD Key on their account.
I have a CD key on my account. Didn't know you could post here without one.

At any rate. It's pretty obvious you are one the the more hardened of fan boys - and I'm not calling you down for it: that is cool - honestly. I'm very glad you enjoy this game.

I'm sorry if you find it offensive that I think that the game is highly average. Disappointingly average, actually.

For the record: I had absolutely no premeditated thoughts on the game. I literally picked this up from the shelf. I wasn't even aware of the TV show. It so happens my wife is PVRing it - I didn't even see any of the show's trailers. I didn't even watch any youtube vids. I walked in to Future Shop with some gift cards - saw "TRION" - saw "1st person shooter" - saw "MMO" - and picked it up.

From someone with absolutely zero investment in this game: it is unbelievably average. I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings with that either. Not flaming. Not hatin'. I'm being completely honest in that assessment from a vantage of absolutely zero investment.

Now that I'm in 20 on it though, I'll happily update the client - log in when I have a hankering for some sniping... and happily play the average game.... I know as it is a TRION product that this will eventually become an above average product. I know this already.

But I'm sorry again if that offends you so much bud. Take it easy - go shoot up some baddies!

I'm defending him and have a bit more than 1 post ;-)

Lets be real, I love this game but the story sucks. My gf and I literally laughed at the character models, voice acting and story. I tried, I really did, but so many things were done wrong. My character is a mute mindless slave that does whatever he's told without a hint of expression. Von bach's humor falls flat because he lacks the charm of Barney from How I Meet Your Mother, the delivery is awkward and predictable. The supporting characters lack anything to make me care about them. The missions lack variety and honestly listening to the exact same into and outro to every single side mission is so lazy and boring. Then there's ego who is the combination of Cortana and Angel ( or whatever her name was from borderlands 1) but lacks character and ends up saying the same repetitive, annoying lines. I want my character to have a voice, emotions... anything... the enemies have more developed characters then mine.

The gun play and game mechanics are addicting. I actually like this change in loot and modding. The ego perks are awesome. Ego lvl grinding is rewarding.

But common guys this story blows compared to any other game like it: Borderlands 1&2, Fallout 3&NV, Mass Effects, skyrim. I mean black ops 1 has a more interesting and developed story, with awesome twists... and that's a multiplayer game with a campaign tacked on. I realize and am excited for future content. However, as the story sits now, it's completely forgettable

I don't think Joe gets that the game, so far, is not actually about Nolan an Irisa, its more about stopping the rest of the planet from being terraformed.

Nolan and Irisa will most likely come more into play later on, as the show progresses, but for now the game is not about them.
