If you think i being of an opinion that game is 5/10 makes me someone who 'hates' the game than that is your problem not mine. And no i am not a fan but i do prefer his reviews over sites like IGN.

A three year old could give better reviews than IGN.

Angry Joe does what he does to excite his audience and get more subs, it's true. There is also some fact behind some of what he says, like the technical problems they had at launch/continue to have to date.

His estimation of character depth or how much we learn about the characters is just simply wrong. We learned plenty. Maybe not as much as he would have liked, but that's probably intentional. The game isn't here to ONLY tell a story for the show. The show has to do that as much (or probably more so) than the game.

What exactly is ironic about him calling you cynical? You do come across as pretty cynical. Maybe it's in the way you deliver your replies.

Watching Angry Joe's review again, I think he misses the point of the TV show crossover.

He uses the fact that the show is unproven and might be cancelled as a negative. But the whole point is to launch both at the same time and follow along. The whole point is that you're jumping into both right off the bat.

Sure he has a point the show could be cancelled, but it's premature to say that. At least give Defiance some credit for trying this new way of game/tv interaction.

It could be, but they also have recorded the entire first season already, and have started on recording seasons two (or they are starting very soon). If it does get cancelled, it won't be for a couple/few seasons at least.

when all the reviewers give it a meh rating.... maybe all the reviewers are wrong,.... yet to see 1 correct review praising the game and giving it a high rating it deserves..... so find me one pls so i can see for myself who is right and who is wrong

i been having a blast with the game, but im playing on ps3 and i read that its the smoothest one right now. but i can see why people playing on pc or xbox been having so many problems. i just wish there was more communication between players but i think with the next patch they should be fixing it. but to each his/her own when it comes to opinion on games sometimes i agree sometimes i dont. i dont agree with ever review of movies.

TRION set out with the intent that if you didn't watch the show, you wouldn't be missing anything(sans episode quests, obviously). Find your own sauce, it's out there, and I don't feel like sifting through every article I've read about Defiance to search for it. This is a new IP so they really should be throwing information at you left and right as you play through the game. The data recorders are there, but it's mostly about the residents of the Bay Area. That's great and all, and it's nice learning more about the characters we interact with, however, more background information outside of “they came, **** happened, earth was transformed, and now here is Karl Von Bach – cue the story line.”

I think the most information about the world you get is the recorders about how the Votan Ambassador was assassinated. It's a glaring fault on the part of TRION where, as I said before, if their intent was that you didn't have to watch the show to 'get' everything, because you don't. And it's looking more and more like the pieces of information you don't get from the game, you'll get from the show.

Yes, the game is young, and I'm sure they'll expand and give us more information with time, but I feel like some of the information we're going to be getting down the road is stuff that really should have been in there right from the get go.

He's also familiar with the tropes and so forth that go along with games that are MMOs, as he made a point to mention and explain some of them. I'm of the opinion that if you're going to review an MMO that you should have at least that much understanding.

the only reason i know the lore of defiance is cos of the beta and alpha forums lol... and the defiance trailers.... playing the game alone the casual player will never know y it happened and how it happened.
