    Why all the bad reviews?

I'm really not getting all of the hate for this game, how does it possibly have a 60 on Metacritic? I mean, I understand that it has a bunch of glitches, and some weird server issues... But still...
Please, no flaming, just explain why the critics are hating this game sooooo much.

Because a lot of the mechanics are done better elsewhere, it's still a fun game though which gives it a good start. The problem lies in the total lack of content which hits hard on reviews, you run out of stuff to do really fast that isn't grinding thousands of kills.

Many shooter fans hate that it isn't their normal pew pew.
Many MMO fans hate that it isn't their normal grind grind.

It's hardly surprising the game has bad reviews when you think about it.

Xaearth you do have a point there, it's not really leaning too far to either side of spectrum... Sadly I guess that's a bad thing.

Technodude, fair enough. All I want are the varying opinions of the players here on the forums.

Honestly as much as i love the game i wouldn't rate it higher than an 8 - and thats being generous.

The gameplay is solid, and Trion is pushing updates pretty fast and it is getting better and better. But, there are some problems and glitches, and while the idea they are putting forth is great some, the implementation is somewhat lacking.

There are a variety of reasons. Just to name a few:

    1) Reviews being done on the 360 (which had the worst technical problems)

    2) People who for some reason expected a full blown RPG even though it has been known for quite some time that it is not primarily an RPG but a shooter with some RPG elements thrown in

    3) Along with #2, lots of people who cant grasp the differences between shooter and RPG

    4) Tons of console players who have never experienced an MMO launch before

    5) People who somehow believe that all MMOs in history EXCEPT for Defiance have somehow managed to launch 100% bug free and that the same amount of content was in those games at launch as there is now, even though those same games they mention have had several years and multiple patches and expansions since

    6) People who no matter how many times they are told do not get that they have not beaten the game and that all they have done is equivalent to reading the prologue of a book and claiming to have read the entire book still insist they have beaten the game, regardless of the fact that new content will be released regularly starting this coming Monday
