    Processor Requirement Question

Is there any reason that a dual core overclocked at 3.7ghz would be at 100% usage when playing this?

It's not my CPU that is the problem but my friends, oddly enough my other friends have WORSE CPUs and can run this game smoothly so im wondering what the issue could be. We wiped the computer and reinstalled all drivers and whatnot and it still persists. Just wondering what the requirement for this game is on PC.

You can see the minimum requirements to be able to play the game here: https://support.trionworlds.com/app/...m-requirements

What are the minimum system requirements for the Defiance?

    System Requirements

    Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8
At least 2 GB System RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz CPU or better
512MB video card (NVIDIA GeForce 8600 class or better)
    ATI Radeon HD 2900
    Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics
    DirectX 9.0c
    DirectX 8.1 compatible sound card
    Broadband internet connection or better
At least 15 GB free hard drive space

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me!

So by those requirements hes well over the minimum...anyone have any idea why he runs at 50% CPU when idling and 85-95 when driving around in the car?

He has dual core 3.7 ghz
    8GB DDR3 1800
    Nvidia GTX 650 TI
and running on Windows 7 Ultimate.

For me the first thing I would check is the Task Manager and see what processes are running at idle. It's pretty tedious going through each one, but if something is causing the the CPU to run at 50% at idle then your culprit might be there.

I'm just getting back into building rigs myself, dabbling in Overclocking and would recommend checking out tom's hardware forums:

    http://http://www.tomshardware.com/

The community has a huge amount of tech knowledge and maybe able to answer your question.

Oh im sorry, i meant the game runs at 50% when him just sitting still not moving ingame, sorry for the confusion. I am not new to computers, but i've tried everything i could think of. The only part making me think it's not his computer at fault is the insane amounts of lag he gets vs my other friends which get none with way worse PCs

Have not updated chipset that i know of, but the GPU load is about 60% when playing the game - temps are fine too. Only thing on his PC that gets high load when playing is the CPU. I will try out some new chipset drivers.
