All we can hope is tiron watch these reviews and read what we post, if u havent got customers the product will fail. Im enjoying the game regardless of the bugs. But alot still needs to be done for this game to shine.

my guess was that it was scrapped to make the game accessible
look at the pc sub forum. you'll find people who spent money upgrading their gpu and ram but are still using cpu's from 2005. weather effects and the like are cpu-heavy processes.
many mmo's dont give you weather nowadays, and those that do tend to scrimp on graphics in some other way in order to give you weather or give you heavy instancing. gone are the days of daoc downpours blinding you, so loud with thunder as to really immerse you in the game world. yes, this is a sad thing, but cpu/gpu requirements for games in 2001 were NOTHING like they are now.
Fog happens sometimes too depending on where you are.
It rained all the time in Red Dead Redemption and I used to play that game until my eyes bled. Consoles can handle weather effects just fine.

I'm sorry, but Final Fantasy XIV is a success by no definition other than initial sales. The developer themselves have come out and said it was a failure-- that's why the subscription fee was waived for a year.
And why they're redoing the game.
That aside, FFXIV was in even worse condition than Defiance. I'm more concerned for Trion itself-- after Defiance, it can no longer be trusted to launch its games polished and complete.
