whole point of a mmo game is....

the whole point of a mmo game is communication and being able to play with friends.. for one i aint got many people to play with on ps3 but i never see anyone talking in chat that much and the mics just suck they never work.. so my point is how am i supose to enjoy my time?

physically started talking to someone. if people won't start talking, you start. as for the mics, i say it all the time: i feel they have no place in an MMO, war games and sports only.

Part of the issue is that many PS3 players simply don't have microphones to use. I currently own each of the major consoles and portables: PS3 (my main console), Xbox 360 (just for exclusives like Alan Wake), Wii U, Vita, and 3DS. The PS3 is the only one that, from day one until now, does not generally come packaged with some form of either built-in or packed-in microphone or headset. With so few MMO's on PS3, and so few third person shooters that have the same following as first person shooters on PS3 (barring Uncharted), I'm not surprised that those looking for a third person shooter MMO on PS3 would find themselves approaching it more like a microphone-less experience, rather than picking up one. Heck, I even own the PS bluetooth headset to use, and that sucker has been gathering dust since about a month after I bought it.

It just isn't an obvious thing for many PS3 players. : shrug :

I thought chat was broken which is why you see no one talk.

It may still be, though I've heard at least a couple of people talking via group voice chat during a couple of co-op missions and random grouping out in the side missions.

I never thought of that as the point. I like to play with people, but never necessarily want to chat with them. So I'm not sure that's the point of MMOs... but it's a nice thing to have, and I do agree it should work better for those that want to.

Yea I thought group chat was the only thing that worked. I see mics for group voice but never hear anything ot sometimes it is a faint crackle.

Usually I hear one person go "Is anyone on? Anyone on?" and then that's that. LOL. I did hear an actual conversation during a Shadow War earlier today for the first time. I have a mic on my headset... I just haven't used it yet. I think I'm too self-conscious. I have a smaller apartment, and I would feel weird yelling out "go over there!" "I've got him!" or whatever while someone else is one room away. LOL.

I thought you could only talk in group chat as the main chat is bugged or some sort? I will have to try this when I get on.
