Zero issues at all with the Patcher since launch day, I'm wondering if it's hardware issues and not just network path problems.

atleast you compared it to eq1, which despite its patcher was THE best mmo to date.

i wouldn't call it the -best-... though its definitely the source of some of my best gaming memories over the last 13 years.

though these days i'm finding myself avoiding every game that says "soe" any where on the box, hehe.

as for the wise guy who fired back with the oh so witty "get off dial up"... what country are you in that dialup supports 25 meg/sec download speeds? or are you really just that stupid?

Have a 20mb connection and only getting .41 mb myself. Time of day doing it may factor in as well.

I and everyone I know who plays Defiance (which is about 30 people or so) never had any issues at all in regards to the launcher, and we've always believed that those who had (or have) are American, though that is pure speculation but so far I haven't read or heard about anyone from Europe having issues.

Therefore the natural conclusion is it has to do with the quality of bandwidth, whereas Europe of course flourish much more. Nothing to do with the launcher, nor is it a bad one in any regard.

It started badly for me 0,5-0,7 MB/s but after minute or so jumped to 4,7-5,2MB/s and stayed that way till the game was patched.

... i honestly thought you guys were making it up when you said the patcher was the worst thing since eq1's launch day patcher...

finally get my hands on my copy, install the game and... 0.8mb/s download for the patch... da hell happened? i know full well i'll never, ever, get my full 25mb/s download speed, from any server... but not even 1.0 from a patch program?

i just thought you guys were griping about it while doing the typical rookie thing, and running 50 browser tabs, another game, while streaming youtube.... but no... with 0 things going on beside the patcher... i think i spiked to am amazing 0.83mb/s... for 2 seconds...

why is this even a possibility that can exist long enough to complain about it, in this day and age??

To me it was the best atleast but yeah I agree soe has really fallen far, but then again it wasnt SoE that made eq great, it was verdant, SoE truely only made Eq less of a game.
