Orange Weapons.. Myth, or Reality?

I have 2 already and I'm only 749.

But I spend my days farming for Keycodes.

Is there a mini-boss or boss that even occasionally drops an orange? That orange flashbang grenade I got proves that a box CAN drop them, but the couple dozen boxes I've opened so far prove that this is a Borderlands 2 clone, not Borderlands 1...

I have found 5, yes I repeat 5 legendary weapons.

Vbi hp-5 wolverine (587ego)
Vot blast rifle (298 ego)
Vbi sniper rifle (849 ego)
Vot tachmag pulser (138 ego)
Vot grind fragger(236 ego)
I found all of these entirely from tier four lockboxes...
I have never found any legendary weapons in any other box.

I have yet to receive an orange piece. I'm ego 1046 and I still do pretty dam good damage with blues

You're best bet is to get Tier 3 Lock Boxes, I have gotten 7 legendary some were duplicates but still worth it I trade them off for others. I think I have gotten pretty close to 100 Tier 3 Lock Boxes I have opened it about 10 times a day since the game came out, not adding them all together or counting just estimating. I would also suggest asking around, if you're scarce on key codes there are easy emergencies to get them.

Not seen one opened many many tier 4 boxes, should probably stay on tier 3s in the future. I don't mind the oranges being super rare, gives me something to work towards when I want a break from ark falls and missions etc

I was lucky to pick up an orange SMG carbine early in the. Pretty useful in CQB firefights

I got 4 at the moment but i have been trading them around so i had others before

It is definitely luck. Barely 300 and got an orange shotgun (not the greatest I admit) in the first tier 4 I bought. Only bought 5-6 tier 2 and got some good purples. Now the real problem is finding the mods!
