its standard practice today
you can save money if you buy DLC now
but noone is forcing you to buy so if you want to wait its up to you
But I'd suggest getting it now since it will save you money, plus this looks like an awesome game
The only reason that they released the DLC this early is because they know that the fans who are up to date on things might want to buy it if they do not get the Ultimate edition of the game.
It is not a blatant money grab.
I agree DLC's should be free, The only thing they should charge for is Expansions that add new game world's with extra mission, units, weapons maybe extend the main story. Things that actually add a lot of content to the game. I remember the day's that I would buy a game and everything was in it, no stupid DLC's and expansions where like an entirely new game. But I guess as long as people are willing to shell out money on stuff like this they will continue to milk there consumers. After all they are a business and businesses are always trying to find new ways to get more money regardless to what we think.

Finally someone who gets what I'm saying. I'm not only critizing Defiance or Trion, but all companies that use this shady practice. Did anyone notice that I refrenced Little Big Planet in the first post? They are the worst. What fool pays 2.99 for a costume? The last Mortal Kombat that came out had add on characters to buy for 4.99 or 5.99? WTF? Are they seriously trying to convince us that is a reasonable price for what they're offering? I have bought DLC for some games, but for me to not see it as an underhanded tactic to charge more it needs to be of significant length and really add to the core experience. Dark Souls add on content is an example. It released long after the game so you know it wasn't ready and waiting when the game came out, it was an entire new area to explore, with new weapons, bosses, etc. If the game has filled a bluray disc and there is still more story to tell, then by all means give us DLC. If for some reason company A feels that their game cost more to produce and selling it at the standard price of $60 is not going to net them the profits they seek, then be upfront about it and say our game costs $100 because of our costs of production. DLC that releases on Day 1 alongside the retail version of the game is just garbage and we've even seen a couple of instances where the DLC is included on the disc and all your paying for when you purchase their DLC is the unlocking of it. But as long as there are fan boy fools ready to shell out their cash on DLC for a game they haven't even seen yet, companies will continue to do it. You all need to remember who is really in control here and that is us, the customer, and our method of control is through our wallets.

So you must have missed where they have stated several times that there will also be free DLC I assume? I also remember the days when games didnt cost 10s of millions to develop.
If they were forced to give out everything for free except for the major updates every couple years they would not last very long. They are not charging sub fees and you will still be able to access some of the paid DLC for free. I dont see why people are *****ing about this.
