Personally I never talk on it because of idiots singing and children trash talking. Ruins my enjoyment having to listen to these, however if there are people on chatting that aren't being complete muppets then I'll chat back but they are few and far between these days.
I use party chat when mates are on and playing the same game. If not I'll have public chat on. Hopefully Defiance will have an easy way for players to discover and mute anyone who is being annoying in public. It's not easy on ME MP...

But a lot of people on there were little kids screaming in the mic just like xbox, a lot of nice people on PS3 to though.
(When I'm in party chat on xbox we yell out were people are at, and sometimes we invite strangers and then we'd become good friends.)
On ps3 when I make friends I rarely talk to the people I made friends on there, just because Sony doesn't have a Party feature that just made it less fun to play. If PS4 has it, i'll be buying it as well as the new xbox.
