Devs need to explain their games

I understand devs wanting to save money by not printing instruction books but that means you have to explain it all in game. I'm so tired of having to search forums just for explanations for what should be simple game mechanics. The fact that to just know how synergies or contracts work you have to look outside the game is bad. Devs step up, we want explanations.

In the wheel menu there's an Intel section, under the Help sub-heading synergies are listed under the Gear section, Contracts are listed under the General section. It's pretty much all there, it's a very comprehensive manual for the game. One of the early loading screens directs you to it.

Sort of off topic, but I actually miss the days when you had real game manuals. Not only for instructions but they would often give a quick back story and have amusing art work at times. Now all game manuals are is advertisements and a bunch of legal jargon.

Just had a look at the Intel section and it's really not that helpful. Maybe for some superficial stuff it's ok. It needs more depth, how do synergy mods work, how weapon mastery is different than weapon skill, those sort of things.

I liked the days of big fat instruction books.

No one will ever beat the instruction manual that CAME with Earthbound on SNES. Their manual was a strategy guide, lol.
