The times of RPGs based on Dungeons and Dragons were so great. Does anyone remember the manual for Baldur's Gate II? It was actually a quite interesting lecture.

OMG, YES! I loved those as a kid. I remember the monkey smelled like bubble gum (because he used it to fly) and the puke monster smelled like, well, take a guess.

yeah but I mean thats how games are nowadays, and its better that way because you end up with way more details then what you'd find in an instruction manual

I actually still have my BGII manual and original discs. It is pretty thick, and they went into an amazing amount of detail. The manual is 250 pages.

Blizzard did close to the same thing with the D2 manual. A bunch of bits of lore sprinkled throughout it.

It's not better this way. Companies should be able to inform their user base of basic functions in an easily found manner. Shoving it away into a sub-menu within a sub-menu is not conducive to learning about a game.

If we were, I'm absolutely positive you would be standing there telling us how easy it is and how documentation is completely unneeded.

also remember defiance is an mmo so its constantly evolving, balanced, etc

so a printed manual might quickly become outdated
