Yeah exactly...torrents are 100% of the time a pirated version of something, be it a game, tv show, movie, etc...all torrents are pirated files...there are no "official" torrents.

Nearly all of the mmos has official torrent links. Because you can't pirate and play mmo with cracks.

Official torrent or not, no matter which torrent people use they still have to buy a key to activate their account. So Trion isn't losing anything.

Actually, this is incorrect.... I have found a lot of different publishers offer a torrent to download their product "officially"... But in this specific case, I don't believe Trion offers a torrent to download the game client.... If there was an option it would be on defiance dot com.

However if you use torrenting websites to download the game client, then that would be illegal..... Now whether or not you wish to break the law is up to you but I can not tell you how to do this.... I'm sure you can figure out a way if you do a google search....

Just so everyone is aware and to stop spreading misconceptions. Torrents have a legitimate use, a lot of MMO makers (mainly Blizzard) use the torrent protocol to deliver patches and official game clients to their consumers.

Don't think just because the individual is asking for a torrent version hes asking for a pirated copy. Please don't be dense.

Is that dense? The majority of torrent usability is for pirated material. Even if it was a mistake to assume it was a request for pirated material it does not make one 'dense' for assuming this. If the OP was a little more clear in his initial request then no assumptions would need to be made. He asked for harshness when he threw 'dumb' out there. Great way to get people to help you. I love how arrogant forum folks can be when they aren't face to face with someone. I love how your first post was to get on and call people dense. Bravo on your first post, sir. Bravo.

Thank you, thank you! Someone with sense, finally. I was facepalming so hard when reading this thread, that I almost gave myself a concussion.
Look people, BitTorrent is a distributed data transfer protocol, it's in no way illegal to use, and is used by software companies, game studios, universities, TV-networks etc. etc. around the World. It is very popular with pirates, but that's hardly the only use for it.
I'd suggest that certain someones in this tread find out about what they're talking about next time before they jump on someone for being a "criminal".

He isn't asking for a pirated copy he just wants a torrented file download so he doesn't have to direct download from Trion which it takes ages. I am sure he has purchased the game. He just wants to speed up his download speed so he can play faster. There is nothing illegal about this.

It's not like he will be able to use it. Cause he needs a CD key verified by the servers.

But still, wrong place to ask. Especially when Trion is working so hard on this underrated game.
