    More Melee options?

While I do enjoy shooting people, I would like the option to run around melee-ing people without much shooting. Here's my proposal:
    - Seperate melee weapon in loadout (sword, knife, bayonet, whatever)
    - Blur EGO power last a bit longer, and the perks around Blur have more to do with seriously upping your melee power, i.e. melee damage x2.5, run speed x1.5, etc.
    - as a downside, all guns have x0.5 damage

I find myself enjoyable running around and melee-ing all of the mobs, but the time between each attack is a long wait, and it's decently powerful, but not very.
A change like this would add a new "class" for people to be, as we already have people who can be medics with the BMG, or supports with the LMG, or assault/commando classes with the AR and shotguns.

If you think a new attack system wouldn't mesh very well, take a look at WarFrame. Very fun game, with a blend or guns and melee weapons, all of which, I think, complement each other.

While I don't like the idea of melee only weapons, some people have suggested altering melee's current animation with an inventory slot or using the bayonets on guns. I wouldn't mind these, but I really don't want to see a whole bunch of people running around with katanas, expecting to be comparable to my assault rifle.

In Fallen Earth, a sword does more damage than a shotgun. I would hate to see Defiance become that way.

Problem with making powerful melee weapons is that sawed off shotguns exist to fill that role. I'm all for melee weapons that add 50% more melee damage or 50% melee speed but it cannot be more powerful than a shotgun.

Melee combos would be nice. 3-hit combos instead of the single strike with the odd delay after it.

I made this suggestion awhile back in the beta forums. I would like the option to punch and kick and be a general martial artist, but I understand that it has no place in Defiance. Still, would be nice to have the different animations depending on your current weapon. Bayonets should be used if you got one, instead of the rifle butt.

Well, melee stocks do add spikes and such to them so it's not that bad.

I dont think any power should have a downside except for opportunity cost. Plus, the greatest benefit Blur gives to melee is that melee damage will now do full damage to shields. But honestly, i do want a charge sword, the enforcers have one, Nim has one, the Monitors can roundhouse kick me, let me have an awesome melee as well.
