I'm guessing people skip over him, because Cushing wasn't playing a "new" incarnation of the Doctor like McGann was, he was literally playing the role of the Doctor, just in a movie format.

Plus, apparently the movie version there played comparatively fast and loose with what would eventually settle down into the (semi)coherent lore of the Doctor mythos, so it doesn't have that same gravitas, I don't think.

My female and I are huge whovians. I started out on, honestly I don't remember which doctor, I was very young and watched all that I could on pbs, she got started with Eccleston. To the individual who made the comment about low budget, you must be new to Doctor Who. >__>'' Anywho (lol that phrase has much more meaning now) I, kind of enjoy the direction they took. It's likely they're going to end the show in a few seasons, there really isn't too much left for the Doctor to do, and bringing back any of his incarnations would be far too cheesey. (Keep in mind I haven't seen last years christmas special or the episodes so far this year.) What I do hope they do, either in movie or television format (When the show ends) is show us the time war, and what happened in it. They could have the Doctor in a major, or minor role, or both, but it would be very interesting and keep the Doctor Who universe fresh, alive, and well. I take it at least some of you are Torchwood fans as well? If so, do you know the state of the American version that was supposed to come out?

Tom Baker, Peter Davidson and Matt Smith are my favorites. Last nights episode was alright, although does anyone else feel like the past episodes have been sort of low-budget? Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed them... but maybe next time the props department and the visual effects people could work a little harder on making the ice warrior's (if they ever have them back on) hands and arms match the rest of its body?

It's always been "low budget" what you are referring to is season 5 or 6 and up when Moffat took over (I believe it was 6 but can't remember)

It's definitely a different feel. I'm still happy with it though. I'm glad they brought the Ice Warriors back. Since Rose is coming back I am quite sure it will be the Meta Doctor and I would assume they are going to make him look a bit older since he has the intelligence of a Time Lord but is a Human.

The Cushing Doctor isn't generally classed as being canon... and the stories in which he played are adapted re-tellings of earlier series stories. Besides the Doctor who Cushing played was actually human, and not a Timelord.
