    lol

    morning arkhunters!

1: We have very little "nuke" ability outside our atmosphere (our nukes don't have in space guidance ability)
2: They may not have the ability to move anywhere other than set destination aka "Footfall" by Niven & Pournell
3: Even terraformed Mars would still be colder than Earth...perhaps they (like us) NEED warm
And I sure hope they're smart enough to assess us well...we'd need to be spoon fed bits of tech ( we seem to have destructive tendencies..like makin new tech into weps..imagine that..lol)

Be well arkhunters...and hone ya situational awareness..the bugs be the least of ye concerns! :\

    1. could be easily done by us, the Russians and the Chinese which would all have a vested interested in this.
    2. Even Babylon 5s ships could navigate basically in space. It all about how its mapped.

The question asked is why they couldn't ask for help with more fuel and point towards another star. the bulk were in hypersleep anyway.

When the world goes to shtako, someone has to clean it up.

    Thats debatable.
Mars is in the Goldilocks or habitable zone of our solar system. It really has to do with the atmospheric pressures on the planet. Like I said If they have the ability to terraform they should be able to overcome Mars being too cold at the moment.

I am not trying to argue with you. I am just hoping the show will give some kind of explanation about it.

If your fleet of hundreds of ark ships is planning to arrive peacefully, you need to send an advance warning to the planet in question and not just enter their atmosphere. Of course, maybe at the time they left their home system they didn't expect there to be any civilisation on the planet (same mistake as The Race in Worldwar by Turtledove perhaps).

I imagine that there is some launch protocol to launch nukes at things in orbit around the planet.
World powers knew years in advance(14 I think) that Votan ships were incoming, but they didn't tell the rest of the population. The Votans sent no message ahead of time, because they had assumed Earth had no life on it. They were probably just as surprised as we were.

I really think that we could nuke in space. Our government doesn't tell us basically anything, and our military force has a Lot of secret weaponry and technology that they hide from the public as well. We are VERY advanced, we just don't know it as the general population.

That being said, I don't think we would try to nuke them, but I really have no idea how our world would even react to an alien being in the first place. I tell you what though, religious leaders and followers would crap themselves..

If the nukes explode to close to our atmosphere an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) would result which could cause all electonics to quit working over a large area of the earth. Launching a nuke into the atmosphere should only be a last resort option as it could throw us right back into the dark ages. then how could we fight effectively in the pale wars?

You don't understand how EMP works. At the distance to hit an Votan spacecraft the worst an EMP would do is blow out satellites. EMPs are actually weak in an actual blast, and would never have a enough yield to wipe out North America let alone most of the world. Its a sphere remember. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_pulse While somewhat inaccurate (its wikipedia) its a good guess. To actually blow out everything (and not just streetlights and the powergrid) would need oh gigaton. On the other hand,we don't have enough backup transformers if such an event would happen so, it would be just as bad.
